Chirp!

Hello!  I am late to the stamp layering game and recently got 3 new stamp layering sets.  I had one before, so I now have a total of 4.  This bird is one of my new purchases and I just love him!  It took quite a bit of practice to get everything right for this stamp set, maybe partly because I do not have a positioner yet (I do have one on pre-order, I guess I am kindof late to the stamp positioner game too!)

I loved doing this as I used tons of inks and so much stamping was involved.  I used soft sand, pool and navy dye inks on the bird, with black as the accent.

This card came together very fast once I got the hang of the layering.

Supplies: Hero Arts Layering Bird stamp set, Versafine Onyx Black, Hero Arts Soft Sand, Pool, Navy, Green Hills, Field Greens inks, Gina K Innocent Pink, Dusty Pink and Chocolate Brown inks, Avery Elle Wonky Stitched rectangles die, blue cardstock from my stash

Mystery Flowers - Solved?

I was cutting some flowers from my garden the other day, and as I was setting them on the sidewalk in a little pile, I realized they looked just like a stamp I have.  If you were here a few weeks ago, you might have seen a flower silhouette card. I had been wondering what flower it was supposed to be and now I think I know.

Pansies and Violas!

I got that stamp out again to make a card. I stamped with purple Distress Oxide ink and embossed with sparkle embossing powder.  I had trouble getting the sparkle to show up on camera.  I then used my favorite frame die on this card and a snippet of purple cardstock from my scrap box.

Patterned Paper Images for Christmas cards

I have quite a few patterned paper packs that have sheets with images or labels on them. I have always just passed these by, assuming that scrapbookers have a better use for them.  But today I decided to cut up a couple from this Christmas pack and use them as a focal point on my card.

I just added stickles glitter and added a frame.  The background is a stamp in white ink. Super easy cards and even though I sortof felt like I was cheating with the focal points, the stamper in me was happy with the background.

Supplies: Penny Black Christmas Story stamp, American Crafts Let it Snow 6x6 paper pad, Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Sentiment set 3, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Avery Elle white ink, Stickles glitter glue

I would love to participate in ScrappyMo's Rudolph Days for May and Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge,  too!

I was having so much fun stamping flowers...

I just got a few new layering style stamp sets and I was having so much fun stamping these flowers --  I was trying lots of color combinations -- that I completely forgot about leaves until I looked at the card after I photographed it.  Oh well, it is still pretty.

I did add some Nuvo crystal drops to add a touch of sparkle.

French Postal Hearts Card

Hello and I hope you are having a good and crafty day!

I stamped using blue pigment in - one heart on light blue cardstock and the other on some coordinating patterned paper. To add some easy details, I paper-pieced the rose on the top heart and then used a glitter pen on some of the other details - just enough to make them stand out a little.

I then just layered a die cut background over patterned paper.  This card is nice and flat for mailing!

Father's Day card

Hello! I have been going through my blog feed this morning and it is especially long today!  I guess everyone has had some good crafty time recently! Maybe that was your treat for Mother's Day?  Anyhow, I have a Father's Day card to share today, trying to make sure I have them ready well ahead of time.

I masked the squirrel so he could be sitting right at home on the comfy chair.  He is relaxing for Father's Day.  I colored this with alcohol markers and cut out.

I used an odd patterned paper for the background and then used snippets from the same pack to make a pleasing arrangement.  I had to add some brads to this card.  These ones I have from old Gina K kits remind me of the tacks sometimes used in furniture.

Supplies: Hero Arts Welcome Home and Clear Design June stamp sets, Memento black ink, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Versafine Sepia ink, My Mind's Eye Handsome 6x6 Paper Pad, Gina K brads

Happy Birthday Skunk ;)

Hello and hope everyone is having a lovely Mother's Day.  I had one stamped and colored skunk leftover from the baby cards I made the other day, so I spent some time finding a use for it.

I started with the base of embossed cardstock.  I usually just use this one for Valentines, so it was fun to get it out again!  The frame is a piece of printed acetate over top of pink cardstock.  I am such a fan of that acetate!  To finish it off, I just added some glossy accents to the stamped heart the skunk is holding.

Stinkin' Cute Baby Cards

Hello, I am glad you are here today.  It is super rainy here today.  A good day for crafting, but not for photographs.  I have two baby cards to share.  Both babies born recently are girls, so I made two very similar cards.

I was lucky enough to win the stamp set and the die from Di at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.  She has a great Snippets challenge that helps you use your scraps.  It was exciting to get an envelope from overseas!  The cute skunk was colored with alcohol markers and trimmed out with the matching dies.

Here you can see the other scrap of paper I used for the second card.  This die is so fun!  I think you will see it a lot in the future!

The next batch of cards I am going to need will be masculine birthdays!  Yikes, I haven't got any ideas for those yet!

When you need a card quickly...

Hello cardmaking friends!  I have been hit by an acute need for many cards that I don't have in my stash.  Of those are some sympathy cards.

I decided to color a stamp with water based markers, spritz lightly with water and then stamp onto regular cardstock.  I get a watercolor look and I like that you can use either watercolor paper or regular cardstock, whatever you have on-hand.  I did frame the flowers with cardstock and added a scored frame on the white piece.

The second thing that made this quick is using embossed colored cardstock for the background instead of fussing with inking or something else.  The sentiment was stamped in dark green ink since I thought black would be too bold.

Supplies:  Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Flora and Fauna sheet, Sentiment sheet 3, Tombow water based markers, American Crafts Valentine 6x6 paper pad, other cardstock from my stash, Versafine Olympia Green ink pad

JFF May Challenge

I am very pleased you are visiting today because I am excited to announce the new Just for Fun Rubber Stamps' May challenge!

Moms!

I hope you will be inspired to make a card for a mom in your life.  Mother's Day is coming up on May 14th this year, and you could get ahead on birthday cards for mom.

For my card example, I used a beautiful peony stamp that I am really looking forward to color, but this time I paper-pieced it.

I didn't have a patterned paper in the right color green, so I took a plain paper and stamped over it with green ink.  Sometimes the small details make me happy.

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Peony, Tattered Screen background stamp, Happy Mother's Day sentiment, Versafine Black Ink, KI Doilies 6x6 paper pad, Gina K Jelly Bean Green cardstock, Gina K Applemint ink, Elizabeth Designs Embossing folder

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by!
