Christmas Skies card using Alcohol Ink background

Hello everyone, I hope this finds you well and enjoying the holiday season.  I have a Christmas card to share today, not too difficult to make at the last minute, if you need a few more.

I started with an alcohol ink background on Yupo paper.  It doesn’t show in the photo but it is a bit shimmery. I stamped right over top with Archival ink with the gorgeous tree background stamp.

I then heat embossed the sentiment on some vellum. This is a brushstroke style script and I like the way it looks heat embossed.

I added some tiny punched snowflakes to finish off my card.  I applied this with some clear glitter glue.  Again these didn’t show up well on the photos, but I found it to be a nice way to glue small things, as the extra glitter on a Christmas cards just adds something to the whole thing!

You can find these stamps in the I Brake for Stamps store.

Quick Cards with Gelli Plate backgrounds and a Bird House Stamp

Hello from design team member, Heidi.  We are at the point where if you still have Christmas cards to make, you probably need to make multiples quickly.  I have an idea for you using a most beautiful Christmas stamp.

I have used this stamp in the past and colored it.  It is not hard to color, but that is definitely more time consuming.  This time I picked out some backgrounds I had already made from my stash (these seem to have been make with my gelli plate) and stamped this stamp in black right over top.

While I was stamping, I also stamped the image on white cardstock.  I then just colored a couple of the leaves and berries, and cut out the banner to make the sentiment stand out more. I think they all turned out pretty!

You can find this stamp at the I Brake for Stamps store.

Cozy Kitten Get Well Card

I adore cats.  And this cat stamp is sooooo sweet!  When I was looking at it, I thought how cozy the kitten looks, and then I decided that the blanket needed to look cozy too.  So I employed one of my favorite techniques, paper piecing!

I had just the right patterned paper that I had hoarded kept for just the right project.

I first stamped the cat on white cardstock and colored with Tombow markers.  This made it easy to do the tabby shading as I could just go over those a second time with my brown marker to make it just the right amount darker.  (Typically I don’t color a lot with water based markers but in this instance, it works very well.)

Then I layered over the cozy blanket and added my sentiment.  A very easy card!

The stamps I used can be found in the I Brake for Stamps store.

The cat is available in a set called MS110 Full Plate and also as a single stamp, if you prefer.

The sentiment is part of this set called Baubles, Doily and Words.

Pretty in Purple Lace

Hello from design team member,  Heidi! I have a tone on tone purple card to share with you today.

I think this lace stamp is meant to be cut apart and each strip used separately, but I really thought it looked really nice for a background, so that is how I am using it.  I used eggplant purple ink on lavender cardstock.

Then I created my own matching texture look cardstock by swiping my inkpads over white cardstock and stamping my floral stamp over top using eggplant ink. Sometimes I don’t like to color, so what I did was fussy cut out my image, then I sponged around the edge with Distress ink.  Finally, I added some grey copic marker in certain parts of the image to add depth.  I really liked the way that looks.

I finished my card by using some die cuts (that I also swiped ink over) with my flower over top. I like this pretty old fashioned card!

The stamps I used can be found in the I Brake for Stamps Store.

Spring bird nest card.

Hello!  Hope you are doing well!

I have an off-season card to share with you today!  I am using the stamp Beautiful Bird Nest that can be found in the I Brake for Stamps shop.

This stamp is easy to color, I used alcohol markers.  I kept this card simple by just outlining the image in a very light aqua marker and then die cutting the piece, adding some cute butterfly gems.

The sentiment is from the very large sentiment set called Everyday Phrases.

New Baby card!

I have a sweet baby card to share with you today.  I need to have some on hand and this lovely strawberry stamp is just the right one!

I just stamped and colored my image with alcohol markers.  I trimmed it out loosely.  I then used some patterned papers from Mintay that had ephemera in them to create the card.  The sentiment comes from a really large sentiment set that has so many options.  I added some tiny gems to finish off the card.

Stamps Used:

Strawberry Border

There are a lot of wonderful border stamps in the IBFS store, here is a selection if Strawberries don’t work for you! (I kindof want them all!) Borders

More stencil butters!

  Hello again!

I am making more projects with the Stencil Butters that are available in the Blank Page Muse store.  Part of this post will be me playing around with them and then I will use a couple of the backgrounds for projects.

The first thing I did was to stencil over some of the Pam Bray patterned papers.  These papers are definitely thick enough to stand up to the stencil paste.  I really liked the nice opaque coverage.

I then stenciled some of the apricot colored paste of the paper bag my order came in.  I messed up and a bunch got under the edge of the stencil.  So I went over it again with a metallic gold paste.  This one looks really cool in person and I plan to use it!

As I was going along, I randomly was using some excess paste onto scrap paper (this is the back of an order sheet, so just regular copy paper).  It was looking like this in the end, so I decided to thin out some of the red paste and just paint over the top. (This is one of the neat things about the paste, you can watercolor with it!) I wiped the excess off with a wipe and the parts that were dry resisted the paint and I think this is the coolest background.  You can see the result in the finished piece below.

The top piece is a home decor item that I finished using Ephemera from Pam Bray’s Masquerade line

The stamps for the finished card are from the Woodland Stamp set and Petals and Flowers stamp set, both in the Blank Page Muse shop.

(You can use my code BPMHeidi to save on your order!)

I hope this gave you and idea of some different ways to use your stencil butters!  I will be back with more ideas another day.  Right now, I ‘d better go clean off my craft desk!  Have a great day!

Stencil Butters and Cute Monster Cards

 Hello!

Blank Page Muse is now selling The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil butters!  Kim sent me a few to try and I want to show you how much fun they are!

(Spoiler alert, when I got done playing with the ones I was sent, I immediately placed an order for more colors on my own dime! They are fun!)

The neat thing about these is that you can use them like a smooth modeling paste over stencils, they are nice and opaque!  But you can also use some water on a brush and get a watery look with them too.  So with one paste you can get two looks.  They also come in shimmers and non-shimmers (just take a look on the website at the close up photo and it is obvious which are which).  I think I like the shimmers better but can see how the flat ones would work better in many project types.

The two easiest things to do with these is to apply them over stencils.  If you don’t want to use a lot of product, go ahead and apply it over your stencil with your fingers. This seems to use a lot less than if you used a palette knife and it dries the fastest!   Above, I applied it over textured cardstock, which looks so neat! I loved the tone on tone look there too!

Second, I blended two colors over a stencil.  This time, I didn’t want to get my fingers dirty so I applied it with a baby wipe.  This technique is a little different because more product builds up on the edge of the stencil opening and then more wipes off in the centers of the design so you get more texture.  They blend really well too.

I finished these cards with two of my favorite monsters in the Carmen Medlin designs which is part of the I Brake for Stamps shoppe.  I love these guys because I can literally color them any color and they always look cute!

Bold Bug Thank You Card!

Hello! I have a quaint notecard to share with you today. I liked the clear and bold Thanks sentiment from Pam Bray’s Fall Rubber Stamp sheet, so I decided to make this card a little more clean and simple.

I stamped a couple of the small stamps from the I Brake for Stamps Stained Glass set called MS89 Full Plate on watercolor paper and embossed with white powder.  I watercolored these with bright colors and some shimmer from Perfect Pearls powder.  I then just cut them out.  (As always, you can use my affiliate code, BPMHeidi to save 15% off your order.)

I did add a few clear Nuvo drops to the panel, they are a little hard to see in the photos, but I thought they balanced out the focal point nicely.

Super easy and fun card for summer!

Glossy Spritz

I don’t know if this easy background technique already has a name, it doesn’t need one, but I called it Glossy Spritz, for the sake of the blog title.

Basically, I brayered dye ink on glossy paper.
You could add it direct-to-paper if you want.
Next, I spritzed it with water and used my heat gun to dry.
I repeated the process, as needed, to get an interesting look.
I think it looks best with multiple colors of ink, but it looks really neat regardless, more dramatic than with regular cardstock.

For each card, I decided to stamp right over top of the background with Archival Black ink.  I just chose very different stamps for each card based on how the background was “feeling” to me.

Honesty, the biggest trick to making this card is waiting for the black ink to dry so you don’t smudge it.  I hope you might want to try it today as it is so fun and easy.

Here are the stamps I used for these cards:

Animals from MS110 Full Plate in the I Brake for Stamps shop.

Sentiment from Inspirational Phrases in the I Brake for Stamps shop.

Thank You Word Art from the Blank Page Muse Shop.

Flowers from Flower & Bird Sketches from the Blank Page Muse Shop.

Stained Glass Look with Stamps

  Hi Everyone!

The I Brake for Stamps shop has a wonderful selection of Stained Glass stamps.  I decided to use this one today because the diamond shape really caught my eye!

I heat embossed the stamp with white powder on watercolor paper.  I then colored in the sections with Tombow water-based markers.  I then blended the color, section by section, with a paintbrush dipped in water that I had mixed with Perfect Pearls.  It is really obvious in person, but only the close-up photo shows the lovely shimmer!

I was in a bit of a traditional mood, so I finished off the card with old patterned papers from my stash and some gems.

This stamp is part of MS89 Full Plate, along with 8 other images, in the I Brake for Stamps shop.  The sentiment is from Quarter Sheet Dahlia.  You can always use my affiliate code BPMHeidi to save 15% off your order!

Thanks for visiting today and have a wonderful day!
