Happy Floral Card

Hello!  I have a happy card to share with you today with lots of patterned paper, but also plenty of stamping.

I’ve used this set quite a bit lately.  I first stamped with the lattice stamp using navy ink right onto some green patterned paper.  I then used the rock n roll method to stamp the flowers.  If you don’t know this technique, you just first ink up your stamp first with the lighter color, then roll just the outside of the stamp onto the darker color.  It’s a fun and easy way to get a color gradient.

I die cut the happy word in both navy blue and white glued them together.  I think this is a happy card!  I would love to enter SimonSaysStamp’s Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes!

Supplies: I Brake for stamps Bubble Wrap, Lattice and Flowers set, Gina K Designs Innocent Pink and Dusty Rose, Hero Arts Navy Ink, Gina K Navy cardstock, Hero Arts Happy Die, Recollections Backyard Table 6x6 paper pad

50th Anniversary Handmade Card

Hello!  Thanks for visiting my blog!  I have a card to share today that I agonized over a little bit!  I wanted this 50th Anniversary card to be special, and I rejected a number of designs before I came up with this one.  Since I used gold, I needed to take several photos to show the shine!

In the end, I heat embossed my wreath stamp over top of a very old piece of patterned paper.  I colored in the flowers with a pink marker.  I went with gold and pink since the bridesmaid dresses in the wedding were pink.

I die cut the numbers out of some foil paper and added a frame of the same paper.  The card was finished by adding four score lines to the card base to represent the couple’s four children.

Supplies:  Hero Arts Flower Wreath stamp, Versamark ink, Recollections Gold detail embossing powder, Anna Griffin patterned paper, Hero Arts Classic Numbers Frame cuts dies, Target dollar spot Valentine foil paper pack.

I would love to enter this in Word Art Wednesdays Anything Goes challenge an the Library Challenge - The Rose Garden.

Trillium Hand-Stamped Card

I’m glad you stopped by today, because I made a card with one of my very favorite flowers - Trillium!  These remind me of walks in the woods with my grandmother.  She knows what all the wildflowers are called!

I colored the image with alcohol markers.  White flowers can be tricky. I decided to add light grey shading to the interior just along the lines, yellow on the stamens, and left the rest uncolored.  Since there are so many leaves and I added sky, it looks complete to me.

Although I think it would be unlikely that there would be a butterfly by a Trillium in early spring, when they bloom, it is so pretty and gives me an opportunity to add a pop of color.

Supply list:  I Brake for Stamps Trillium, Memento black ink, spectrum noir and copic alcohol markers, My Mind’s Eye 6x6 paper pad, cardstock from my stash.

I would love to enter the Double D Butterfly challenge and the Daily Marker’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

Spring by the Lake Silhouette Sympathy Cards

Thanks so much for visiting today.  I have two similar Sympathy cards to share today.  The first was stamped on a watercolor background.  I can’t remember what that technique is called, but you just paint and then throw salt on the paper before it dries.  So easy and so pretty.

The second card was stamped over patterned paper.  I think it was important for both these cards to have a nice black frame.  It adds a lot to a clean and simple card.

Supplies:  Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Spring By the Lake Silhouette, Sentiment Sheet 3, Versafine Black ink, Love Nicole Aquarelle 6x6 patterned paper pad

Happy Bee-day Card

Hello!  Hope you are doing well.  I never seem to have enough birthday cards that are good for kids, so I have been trying to make an effort to build up a stash of them.

I mixed a couple sets here to get the sentiment, just carefully inking up the words I needed.  I did color this with alcohol markers and added just a little detail with a glitter gel pen.

June Flower of the Month - Stamp Layering Rose

Hello! I have a second post for June’s Flower of the Month series. I have a stamp layering Rose set I had to get out when I realized I hadn’t done any of this style stamp in the series.

If you are new to my blog, you might not know that the Flower of the Month series is a self-imposed challenge I am doing all year.  I want to use stamp I already have to create at least one card a month using the birth flower.

Clean & Simple Snowdrops - Two Cards

Hello!  I am glad you visited today because I have two very pretty Clean & Simple cards to share with you.  I have had a lot of fun stamping this last week, but just have gotten around to photographing the cards I made.

For my first card, I stamped the snowdrops, colored them with markers, then masked it off with thin copy paper.  I stamped over top with the bubble wrap image in light pool ink.  I finished the card off by framing the image in dark grey and adding score lines to my card base.

The second card was a lot of fun to stamp!  I used a light green ink called applemint. I stamped the flower for the background in the second generation repeatedly to get a very light, clean look. I added the heat embossed sentiment and fussy cut snowdrop image to complete the look.

Supplies: I Brake for Stamps Bubble Wrap, Lattice and Flowers Sheet, Gina K Applemint ink, Hero Arts Soft Pool ink, Memento and Versafine Black inks, Versamark Ink and white detail embossing powder, Applemint cardstock.

Father’s Day Card with Gold Tweed background

Hello!  I am slowly photographing the pile of cards I made in the last week so I can share them with you.  This masculine card is pretty simple, but the background technique is really fun and easy, and would be fun with many styles of stamps.

First, I stamped the Tweed background stamp over Chocolate Brown cardstock and clear embossed it.    I know it is hard to tell it is brown in the photo.  I then rubbed my gold metallic inkpad all over the background.  I built up color by letting it dry and applying it again.  The brown part is shiny from the embossing, and it resists the gold ink for a crisp look.

I then kept the focal image pretty simple by just paper piecing the shirt with blue cardstock.  I would love to enter this in the Back to Basics Heat Embossing Challenge.

Supplies: Hero Arts Tweed Background stamp, Studio G shirt stamp, Hero Arts Celebrate Everyday Sentiment set, Versamark clear embossing ink and Recollections Clear detail powder, Gina K Designs Dark Chocolate ink and cardstock, Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink, MFT Die Namics Pierced Square die

As I was finishing this card, I realized that all the supplies I used were pretty old. I would say at least 5 years old - but the Brilliance ink I have had for at least 8.  It was one of the first ink lines I bought when I started stamping more seriously.  Most of the supplies are also still available, which is cool!

This card will be for my husband for Father’s Day.  He is very supportive of my hobby, but luckily, rarely reads my blog.

Have a great day!

Flower of the Month - June Rose (a coupon & something new!)

Welcome to my Flower-of-the-Month post for June!  You may have already known that the birth flower is the Rose.  My grandfather is fantastic at growing roses, but I am just an adequate gardener, so I haven’t even tried!

This series is my personal challenge to use stamps I already own to make at least one card using the birth flower for that month.  You can find all the cards in the series here.

I colored my image with alcohol markers and I intended them to be more subdued, vintage colors.  That is why I outlined the image in my very lightest yellow.  I was super lucky that I had this scrap of patterned paper already cut to size!  I matted the whole thing with black to finish it off and to tie in the sentiment I heat embossed in gold.  I would love to enter this project in the Daily Marker’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

Supplies: I Brake for Stamp June’s Rose, Bubble Wrap Lattice and Flowers set (sentiment), My Mind’s Eye Bramble Rose 6x6 patterned paper pad, Recollections Platinum embossing powder, Memento Black ink, Versamark embossing ink, Gina Marie designs X Stitched Circle die

Announcement and a Coupon Code!
I was asked to join the I Brake for Stamps Design Team and I gratefully accepted the offer. I have been a long time fan and collector of their red rubber stamps.  Because of this, I am able to offer my readers a coupon code for you to get 10% off your purchase at the IBFS store!

Father’s Day - Surf’s Up Card

I have noticed that a lot of paper pads have these sheets of paper that are just words.  At first, I thought they would likely just be useful for scrapbooking, but then I thought of my silhouette stamps.

I think this is a lovely and sentimental scene, and the words in the paper add to it.  A non-traditional, but very cool Father’s Day card.

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubbers stamps Surf’s Up, Sentiment sheet 1, Versafine Onyx Black Ink, Versamark ink and detail white embossing powder, Pebbles Family Ties 6x6 paper pad

Bird Baby Card

I have several baby birds in my yard right now.  I have seen the baby Downy Woodpecker, a young House Finch, and I am fairly sure the two Carolina Chickadees are going in and of the birdhouse so often because there is a nest full of babies to feed!  We are anxiously awaiting the day they will fledge.

Anyhow!  I do not have a bird quite like this one!  None of the birds seem to be taking care of a cute little mouse, but wouldn’t it be sweet if they did?  DH suggested I color the bird to look similar to an Oriole, so I made up a species here.  I will be using this card as a baby card.

Supplies: I Brake for Stamps Bird with Mouse stamp, Hero Arts CL342 Sentiment set, Memento and Versafine Black inks, My Mind’s Eye Stella & Rose 6x6 Patterned paper pad, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Shaped Cards Challenge - Beachy!

Hello!  It is time for a new challenge at Just for Fun Rubber stamps and this month we have a fun theme — Shaped Cards!  This is not something I normally do, but it was so fun!  Hope you will play along too!

I stamped my beachy scene and colored it with alcohol markers, then I cut it in a circle.  The scalloped circle was cut from a folded card base, leaving just a little, tiny bit of the fold intact.  Fun, fun, fun!

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Relaxing in the Sand, Memento black ink, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circle dies.

I appreciate your visit today!  I hope you have many crafty moments this June!
