Christmas Cardinal Card

Hello, again!   I don’t often post two times in a day, but it is the end of the month and I am trying to get in my card challenges!

I love this cardinal image from Elizabeth Crafts so much and was able to color this up quickly last night.  I used random papers from my Christmas pads.  They have gotten quite mixed up, I noticed. I need to do an overall craft desk cleaning, so add that to the list!

August Flower of the Month - Poppy

A quick post for August’s Flower of the Month!  This is where I have challenged myself to use more of the stamps I already having by creating at least one card a month with the birth flower for that month.  This month it is Poppy!  (Gladiolus is also another option for August, but I didn’t own any for this one.)

I heat embossed this image from Our Daily Bread Designs on watercolor paper and then used pan watercolors to color it.  I used a lot of pretty patterned papers for the background.  I needed a card for someone who just moved into their own home, so I added that tiny sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Turtley Awesome Kid’s Card

Hello everyone! I have to say, I am becoming stunned by August. It just flew by.  I got a little behind on my cards, but am trying to make up for them the last couple days of the month.  Today, I have a super-duper cute turtle card to share with you.

I had fun coloring this cute turtle with alcohol markers. I used some summery papers to create a layout for the background, framing each element with some dark navy cardstock.  I am down to one sheet left of the navy paper, I use it a lot for mats instead of black.  The sentiment is one of three in the set, and I liked this one for a birthday card for a niece or nephew.

Supplies: I Brake for stamps Turtle set, Memento Black ink, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Carta Bella Beach Day 6x6 patterned paper pack, Gina Marie X-stitched Circles and Spellbinders Circle dies, Gina K Designs Navy cardstock.

Summer Florals

I’m not ready for summer to be over yet, are you?  I really look forward to fall, but want more flowers in my life so I am crafting with these really pretty flowers today.  I heat embossed them on watercolor paper, and then used pan watercolors to loosely color them.  I trimmed the flowers out and placed it over patterned paper.

I thought that I would leave a sentiment off since the patterned paper had so many sayings on it.  A pretty scalloped die was used to cut a scrap of vellum. I think it is actually ecru vellum, but it is hard to note a difference in the completed card.

I added score lines to some linen look patterned paper and some enamel dots to finish off the card.

I would love to enter this in Pixie’s Crafty Workshop’s Challenge #333 and Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper August 2018 Challenge.

Supplies: Heartfelt Creations Flirty Fleurs stamp set, Versafine Black ink embossed with clear embossing powder, watercolor paper, Koi pan watercolors, Spellbinders Fancy Edge Rectangle dies, Recollections Backyard Table 6x6 paper pad, My Mind’s Eye enamel dots

Summery Oak Tree Card

Hello and thanks for visiting.  I have a card to share today using a lovely, detailed tree stamp that I haven’t used in a while.  I decided to use pigment ink so I could make sure all the little details came through.

I simply paired the image with some light colored patterned papers to get the feel I was looking for.  It came out to be a little feminine, but not overly so.

Supplies:  I Brake for Stamps Large Oak Tree, Thinking Happy Get Well Thanks sentiment set, Avery Elle Kraft and Truffle pigment inks, Spellbinders Fancy Edge Rectangles Dies, My Mind’s Eye  Darling Deer 6x6 paper pad, Spellbinders Circle dies.

Warhol Inspired Halloween Card - Halloween Sneak Peek

Hi!  Hope you are doing well!  I have just been trying to catch up with all the blog posts that I missed when I was on vacation last week.  And you all have been busy!  I hope to get to more of them in the coming days.

I recently got some stamps from the upcoming release at Just for Fun and this great Jack-o-Lantern jumped out at me.  I knew right away I wanted to make an Andy Warhol style card.

I colored the four stamped images in bright colors and added Sakura Stardust glitter gel pen to make it look like it was glowing from the inside.  This was a really fun card to make!  I made a Warhol Style card in Christmas for a couple years ago - here is a link if you are interested.

Supplies:  Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Jack O Lantern stamp (to be released soon!), Memento Black ink, American Crafts Pumpkin Patch 6x6 paper pad, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers

Back to School Wise Owl

Hello!  Today, I am playing with the Free for All Challenge FFA443 at SplitCoastStampers which is a Back to School theme.    I love this owl stamp and colored him in colors I thought would go in an old university library.

I mix and matched some patterned papers from different sets and tore the edge of that accent paper.  A brad and some fun foam to pop up the image, and my card was done.

Supplies: Stampendous Literay Owl stamp, Memento black ink, spectrum noir alcohol markers, My Mind’s Eye Happy Camper and World Traveler 6x6 patterned paper packs, other items from my stash.

Serene Canoe Scene

Hi and thanks for stopping by today!  I am adding this to my stash of camping cards.  I like this pretty scene stamp that would be good for anyone who loves boating or the outdoors.

I colored the stamp with alcohol markers.  I added some glitter pen horizontally to some parts of the water to make it shine.  I added a detail photo where you might be able to see it, but in real life, it is very pretty!  I have this fun canoe paper to pair my image with, as well as wood-grain embossed card and wooden arrow shape.

Watercolored Cosmos

I recently joined a local papercraft group.  I had never really traveled with my stamping supplies before, so I had some trouble figuring out what to bring without bringing too much.  The last meeting, I decided to bring watercolor paper, a few water-based markers and my stamping platform.

I then was able to try the stamping technique that Tim Holtz showed when he released his stamping platform.  Basically, it allows you to color your stamp in just one area with a marker -  stamp - then color another area, etc.  I spritzed with water in between and slowly built up color till I got the depth I wanted.  I originally thought that this stamp was poppies, so that is why I chose these colors, however, I looked it up and it is supposed to be cosmos.  Oh well, still turned out pretty!

When I was satisfied, I let it dry and then stamped a sentiment over top. This is where I really like having a stamping platform, because when stamping on watercolor paper, it took three times to get good coverage with the sentiment.

Supplies:  Impression Obsession Cosmos, Hero Arts CL325 Paris stamp set, Versafine Black ink, Tombow water-based markers, Crate Paper DIY shop 6x6 paper pad, Elizabeth Crafts embossing folder, Nuvo glitter drops, other items from my stash.

Pretty Pansies

We have had such a wet summer this year and I noticed that my pansy pot I planted in spring has just now faded.  This year, I got the mixed colors, as I really like the unusual ones.  While my first thought for pansy is always purple, today I colored the Three Pansies stamp in yellow and pink.

I finished the card with patterned paper scraps from a couple different packs and a lattice embossing folder.  The die is from Gina Marie designs.

A Hot Day, A Cool Drink!

If your weather is anything like mine (hot, muggy, dog-days of summer...), you will be ready for a cool drink, or three!  That is the theme of my card today.

I created three kinds of lemonade.  I even decided what flavors they are, but I won’t go into that!  These were really fun and easy to color.  I also used some citrus slice stamps on the yellow paper to create a subtle background for my drinks.

Supplies:  Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Cold Drink, Citrus Slice & Citrus Slices stamps, Sentiment set, Memento Black ink, Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade ink, Avery Elle Wonky Stitched Rectangles dies, Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers.

Christmas Stockings

It is hot and muggy outside, but my card today is cool.  I am continuing to try to get these Christmas cards done early.  One day, I will actually count how many I have to know if I am making good progress or not!

I paper pieced my stockings with scraps of patterned paper.  I colored the ribbon and holly leaves with pencils.  All that was left was to stamp the sentiment and add it all to the embossed background. I used a sketch so the design came together quickly!

Supplies:  Kaisercraft Stocking Mini Stamp, Tim Holtz Holiday Magic stamp set, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Darcie Snowflake embossing folder, papers are scraps from my stash.

I would love to play along with these challenges.  Thanks for helping inspire us to create!

Little Birdie Thank You Notes

Hello! I don’t know about you, but my most-needed card type is Thank Yous!

I stamped my sentiment and die cut it out.  I then stamped my little tiny chickadee all over the background with a grey-brown pigment ink.  I also colored a bird and cut him out to perch right there on the sentiment.

When making one card, why not make two?  I used patterned paper, more stamps from the bird set and the same basic layout and now I have two cards for my stash. I’m sure they won’t last long since I was very short on Thank Yous.

All the stamps I used can be found the in I Brake for Stamps store! Save 10% by using my coupon code, SAVE10HEIDI.

Happy Stamping!

Stamp Kissing & Stripes Challenge

Hello and Happy August!  July really flew by for me. I was much busier than usual, but I looked at how many cards I blogged, and it was maybe a little more than usual.  I do think that cardmakers and stampers are spending more time doing summery things, but here is a fun challenge to get your cardmaking going strong!

I used striped paper for my card.  I am still working on using up older paper pads, and this counts for that!  The stamped image was inked with light green ink, then I inked up my bamboo background stamp with navy ink and kissed it to the silhouette.  Finally, when that is stamped out, this is the result.  Love this stamp kissing technique!  I used navy cardstock to frame everything and to stamp my sentiment on. (It looks more black in the photo!  OH well!)

I hope you don’t wait too long to send out a card.  Use the Happy Whatever sentiment and just send it out to a friend!  They will appreciate it!

Supplies:  Just for Fun Rubber stamps Bamboo Background, Girl with Umbrella Silhouette, Hero Arts Navy Ink, Gina K Applemint Ink, Crate Paper Party Day 6x6 Patterned Paper pack, Gina Marie x stitched rectangle dies, Versamark Ink and Detail White Embossing powder

I would also like to enter Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge for August.
