Hello and thanks for stopping in!
I had this piece of watercoloring (photo below: I created this with yellow, magenta and cyan watercolor markers, then blended) that I had rejected for another project, but as I am trying to keep my small crafting space cleaner this year, I thought I should try to use it. I decided on using a silhouette floral stamp for an embossed resist with clear embossing powder, and then applied black over top. This is basically like what is called the Joseph's Coat technique.
I used Black Soot Distress ink, and it worked quite well on the watercolor paper panel. I think it is quite fun to see how different the background looks when you do this technique, it looks less vibrant, maybe, but still very pretty.
Supplies: Purple Onion Design Flowers Cluster stamp, Versamark Ink, Recollections clear detail embossing powder, watercolor paper, Distress Ink Black Soot, Gina K Designs Assorted Greetings (there is a verse stamped inside the card too), Versafine Onyx Black ink, Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics dies
I would like to submit this project to the following challenges:

This is so beautiful Heidi. And great use of that gorgeous watercoloured panel. I heard about Joseph's coat last year and did a little experimenting. It's a very cool technique! But I would never have thought about using it on one of my watercoloured background panels --- looks amazing! And I have LOTS of panels waiting to be used. Will give it a try! Thanks so much for the inspiration ... and thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up! Loll :)
Dramatic and beautiful . . . perfect as a sympathy card Heidi! Thank you for your comment on my blog toady! Have a lovely weekend! Hazel xx

Beautiful and wonderfully striking Heidi - the perfect sympathy card
What beautiful colors, Heidi! And this is a perfect use for this technique! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
This technique looks exciting to experiment with, and I just love the CAS sympathy card you came up with. It's a real stunning card!
Oh Heidi that is gorgeous and your right you never would have known that is the same base that you started with.
What a stunning result with the blended watercolors and the technique! I have had this Purple Onion stamp for MANY years but never achieved such wonderful results as your card...you certainly have a fabulous gift of putting combinations together!
Thanks so much! I take it as a great compliment coming from you!
Very beautiful card! Made me smile, even though it's a sympathy card.
