Christmas Card in May

Hello and thanks for coming by.  

I usually have been trying to get 3-5 Christmas cards done each month during the year, so I don't have a big crunch at the end of the year.  That hasn't happened this year at all!  I think I have done just a few all year. This one is pretty simple, but it was fun to make with the distress ink smooshing.

Hopefully I will be able to get moving on these more often!

Father's Day Primary Colors Sailboat Card

If you visited my blog yesterday, you probably saw a card where I used these acetate overlay sheets.  Well, I just loved the look so much that I immediately made a new card with another color!  Wow, they are so much fun.  Here is a photo of the package, in case you are interested.  I got it at A.C.Moore for only $2.99!  They are also available various online stores, I also saw one in metallics.  Awesome!

I needed to get working on more Father's Day cards, so I made this fun one with primary colors.  I stamped each boat, then die cut it out and sponged ink over the piece with the die still in place. I love this look.  

The cardstock I picked for my base is such a great sunshiny yellow, but it looks doubly fabulous with the acetate sheet over top.  I took extra photos today so that you could see the awesome shine.  It really takes the card to a whole new level.

The acetate cuts very easily in my Fiskars paper trimmer.  Those red enamel embellishments are so fun, I wish I knew what they were called because I would get more of them in more colors.

Let's Hear it for the Girls! Card

Today I made an easy card for a couple challenges.  They really helped this card come together, which I think will be a great card for a relative who is also a dog lover.

The purple stripe is actually on clear acetate and is mounted directly to the white card base.  I think you may see the shine in the photo.  The cork sticker is from the Dollar Spot at Target from Valentine's Day.  I used a texture stamp with second generation stamping to create a frame so there was more interest in the stamped panel.

Nature Bird Card

Hello! I hope everyone will have a happy and safe holiday weekend!  It is Memorial Day weekend in the USA, and it should be good, hot weather for us.  

Today, I am using some new supplies and stamps that I picked up before life got real busy, and now have had a chance to try out.  I had lots of fun stamping with those tiny stamps to create my own customized background paper, and then lots of fun coloring the cute little bird with colored pencils!

I did want to leave my options open for this card, so I didn't add a sentiment. I *may* use it for a Father's Day card, and that is the reason I used the woodgrain embossing folder.  

I didn't realize that these small Dina Wakely birdie stamps (I got mine at Michaels) were acrylic and not photopolymer, but they are still so cute and I just use Versafine for the ink and they still stamp out perfectly.

Citrus Slice Thank You card

Hello! I have a quick card to share today that I made for a challenge at SplitCoast.  I thought the citrus theme would be fun for a thank you for someone who is just sweet!

I just stamped the citrus slice repeatedly and used a die cut for the sentiment.  I think the experience has convinced me to try to find some of those thin line glue applicators.  Gluing that word on got a little messy!

Maculine Birthday Card with peg stamps

Hello and thank you for coming by my blog today.  

I needed a masculine birthday card today, so I remembered the little stamp set I recently purchased and paired this with some patterned paper.  I have mentioned before that I am a big fan of using patterned paper to make cards for men.

I die cut the label first, and then did the copper heat embossing of the leaf, which is labeled as a poinsettia bract.  I went over with green pigment inks, sometimes using generation stamping to get further depth in the leaves.  In addition to the leaf and owl images, there is a tiny branch.

I distressed the edge of the label and colored in the owl with a light brown marker.

Distress Background with Power Poppy Camelias

Hello and I hope you are doing well today.  Things are starting to slow down a little around here, so I have had some more time for stamping.  

I had been doing a lot of watercoloring, but today, I wanted to get a darker background and that is easier with sponging distress inks.

I really like this layout for stamping flowers, I find that many of my flower images can be stamped repeatedly like this.  I sponged the distress inks on over the embossed flowers and then flicked a little water over the whole thing.  I think it looks like a rainy day, of which we have had many this spring!

Ombre Watercolor Card

Hello and welcome to my blog!  

I have been doing a lot of experimenting recently with watercolor backgrounds.  I haven't made many completed projects, but it has been fun to play around with my pan watercolors.  The project I am sharing today is one that I wanted to make after I felt I had the hand of the Ombre look.  

I did heat emboss my stamped images first on the watercolor paper and then did the Ombre technique with watercolors.  The basic idea is to add concentrated color where you want it, and then continue to blend it out with more and more water.

A Happy Little Bird card and fun news!

Hello stamping friends!  I have been so pre-occupied with some stresses in my daily life that I have not made a card in nearly two weeks!  Don't worry, nothing dire is going on, just a combination of a few things pulling me in many directions and using up my energy.  I am glad to be back on the blog today!  So thanks for stopping by!

Before I get to my new card, I got some fun news today!  Our Daily Bread Designs featured my card on their blog today as the Customer Card of the Day!  Oh my goodness, I was really surprised and so appreciative of the kind words they posted about my cards.  Thank you so much!

The peachy panel is one of my waxed paper resist panels I made a few weeks ago.  Here is another card with a different one of those panels.  The bird and leaves were stamped with pigment ink and die cut. I used a border embossing folder to create a firm foundation for that bird to sit!
