Baby Card

I colored the cute bear image with my new set of Derwent Watercolor Pencils that was on a great sale on Amazon earlier this week.  I used this beautiful card as my sketch inspiration.  I don't typically make cards specifically for a person, but this one is for a special little baby girl that will be born in a couple weeks.

Little Violets

I decided to color this cute little violet with my Derwent Metallic pencils, but not blend them with water.  I stamped the image onto lavender cardstock.  I used  a base color of silver on the violet petals and then blended in purple.  The leaves are yellow and green.

Supplies:

Gina K Designs Stately Flowers 1 (small violet)
Archival Ink Jet Black
Derwent Watersoluble Metallic Pencils
Patterned Paper from Anna Griffin
Lavender and Green Cardstock from Gina K
Spellbinders Lacy Circles Dies
Pearls from my stash

I hope you might be able to see the very subtle sheen in this detail photo from the Metallic pencils when you do not blend them with water.  (Click on the image for a larger view.)

Thanks for stopping by!

Clean & Simple - Shades of Brown

I stamped the frame stamp, then the flowers.  I cut out each square by hand.  I then "smooshed" the Soft Sand ink on my craft sheet and picked up the ink with a Dove Blender pen to apply this color around the frame.

Supplies:

Gina K Designs Stamps You're My Favorite
Gina K Designs Stamps Mega Squares
Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Chestnut Roan
Hero Arts Shadow Ink Soft Sand
Dove Blender pen
Burlap roll from Michael's

Watercolored Flower Card with Derwent Watersoluble Metallic Pencils

Today, I made a card using a gorgeous flower stamp.  The stamp is drawn as a poppy, but I stretched the idea of that flower and colored it pink with Derwent Watersoluble Metallic pencils. These pencils, when blended out with water, are not really metallic looking.  If you color on dark cardstock and do not wet, they look a lot more metallic.   However, they blend out really nicely!

Supplies:
Gina K Designs Stately Flowers 1
Archival Ink Jet Black
Derwent Watersoluble Metallic Pencils
Distress Ink Antique Linen
Spellbinders Oval
Gina K Designs Kraft Cardstock
My Minds Eye Bramble Rose 6x6 Paper pad
Prima Nature Garden 6x6 Paper pad

I also lined my envelope with a sheet of the same paper I used in the card.  It  is easier than you think!  Here is a tutorial from StampTV.

Acrylic Block Stamping

For this one-layer card, I used an easy technique called acrylic block stamping.  I made a base of watercolor paper.  Then I inked up one of my clear acrylic blocks with distress inks, sprayed it with water and stamped it on my paper. Using a heat tool to partially dry the area, moving around the excess ink and re-stamping with the same acrylic block, I got this result.

Stamps:
Gina K Spring Blessings
Gina K Assorted Greetings

Ink:
Versafine Onyx black
Distress inks: Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Tea Dye
