Embroidery Look Card Set

 Hello and Happy Friday!

Today’s cards are another set.  They all use Close to My Heart Embroidered Card Front stamp set, one uses Close to My Heart Cross Stitched Love (sentiment) and two are using the cute set of Strawberry dies from the Spellbinders 2023 Advent Calendar.

For the card with the white circle inserted, I got out my Gina K Wreath Builder stencil to put the extra “embroidery” on that one.  I hadn’t used that technique in years, so it was fun and easy.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good weekend!

Cute Critter Valentines

Hello!  I took a long, needed break from blogging.  But I am going to try to be back on a limited basis.  I quit design teams, they weren’t worth the workload and time to be paid in supplies (if they remember to send you them… another story).

I am interested who is still blogging and what challenges are inspiring and worth entering! Please leave me a comment!

I have these two cute Valentines to share with you today.  They are going to go to my nieces.

I won’t always be posting a full supply list, nor will I usually post links.  Probably 90% of my stash now is retired. If I ever leave a product out that you are interested in, and I didn’t tell you, please leave a comment to let me know and I will figure it out and tell you!

But here is a basic list:

Pink and Main Perfect Blend Stamps and Dies

Bo Bunny Early Bird 6x6 paper pad.

I will also mention the tiny silver sticker I added between the two patterned papers, which isn’t super visible in the photos but is super cute in person.  Those are from Starforms.  My goodness, I didn’t know they were so hard to find now. I purchased a few from an Etsy shop yesterday.  They were made in the Netherlands and I don’t know if they went out of business or just no  one is importing them anymore. They are a great finishing touch for a car though!

Thank you to anyone who is still reading! Have a good day!

Mask-u-line Floral Card Technique

Hello! I have always thought that there is no reason why flowers should not be masculine.  Every guy I know likes flowers.  Anyhow, it is corny but I decided to use a flower and masking and make it sortof a masculine card.

I used this HUGE Dahlia stamp.  It is such a great stamp, I use this one a lot.

1) I used a grid to mask a straight section of my card front.  I used Mint Tape, and I didn’t even measure how wide it is.

2) Stamp right over the tape so that the flower shows up on either side.

3) Using both the tape and a ruler, use a black marker or pen to draw a border on the flower.  I didn’t extend beyond the stamped image, but depending on what length of sentiment you will use, you totally could extend it, even to the edge of the card.

4) Remove the tape and then stamp your sentiment in between the lines.

I finished the card by coloring just little parts of the flower with a light grey and a green marker. I then matted the card front with grey cardstock and voila, a clean and simple Thank You card, suitable for any recipient.  Even a guy.

This card uses Quarter Sheet Dahlia stamp set and also the sentiment comes from Fall Rubber Stamp set by Pam Bray Designs.

New Baby card!

I have a sweet baby card to share with you today.  I need to have some on hand and this lovely strawberry stamp is just the right one!

I just stamped and colored my image with alcohol markers.  I trimmed it out loosely.  I then used some patterned papers from Mintay that had ephemera in them to create the card.  The sentiment comes from a really large sentiment set that has so many options.  I added some tiny gems to finish off the card.

Stamps Used:

Strawberry Border

There are a lot of wonderful border stamps in the IBFS store, here is a selection if Strawberries don’t work for you! (I kindof want them all!) Borders

Sentiment from Every Day Phrases

Stained Glass Look with Stamps

  Hi Everyone!

The I Brake for Stamps shop has a wonderful selection of Stained Glass stamps.  I decided to use this one today because the diamond shape really caught my eye!

I heat embossed the stamp with white powder on watercolor paper.  I then colored in the sections with Tombow water-based markers.  I then blended the color, section by section, with a paintbrush dipped in water that I had mixed with Perfect Pearls.  It is really obvious in person, but only the close-up photo shows the lovely shimmer!

I was in a bit of a traditional mood, so I finished off the card with old patterned papers from my stash and some gems.

This stamp is part of MS89 Full Plate, along with 8 other images, in the I Brake for Stamps shop.  The sentiment is from Quarter Sheet Dahlia.  You can always use my affiliate code BPMHeidi to save 15% off your order!

A Little Birdie Told me, It’s Your birthday!

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you already know I love birds. In fact, I was just out at a park looking at them.  So many cute baby birds, learning the ropes, this time of year!  So I always am drawn to the great bird stamps!

This card using stamps from three different sets that I will link below.  The bird and branch were stamped in brown ink and colored in with pencils and markers.  The blue circle behind them is die cut from my sheet of paper that I brayered all the extra acrylic paint on when I was doing some gelli prints.  Finally, the background was done with a stencil and the shaving cream/reinker technique.  They all happened to get pulled together with the stamps!

Old-Timey Silhouette Stamped Card Set

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good weekend!

I recently was playing with this set of stamps from the I Brake for Stamps store simply called Silhouettes #1.  It has a variety of old-timey, maybe Victorian silhouette images. I find them so charming!  I had out this set of watercolor-look modern patterned papers, and I decided they were going to work together!  I think they did!

The sentiments are from Half Sheet 138B. (As always, you can used my affiliate code to save 15% off your order and I would receive a small percentage as well.)

I simply stamped the images over top of the patterned paper.  Some I die cut and some I added a little sponged ink.  The purple card was put over top of a watercolor background I had made with Shimmer Colorbursts.  The green card was put over a background that I created with the flourish stamp in the set.

This last card I decided to make a mini Slimline card and the image was just the perfect size!  I also added some bakers twine as trim. So cute! I really like how these turned out.

It was fun to create several cards all at once using the same set!  Hope you have a great day!

Vellum and Markers Background Technique

Hello everyone! I had this card I realized I hadn’t posted yet.  A while back my online stamping group had some challenges and one of them was to complete this technique with vellum, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/vDSsaKSM-6s.

Basically you scribble marker on your vellum and then blend it with drops of rubbing alcohol.  You then emboss the vellum and you can go over the raised parts with an inkpad.  I found this technique worked, BUT for some reason mine took a really long time to dry.  But after leaving it overnight it was dry to use on a card.

Here is how I finished the inside of the card.

Stashbuster Patterned Paper Challenge - The last bits & pieces!

Okay, friends!  This is the end of that pack of patterned paper!  There really are no useable pieces left!  And the funny thing is, that I really like these cards made with scraps so much!  I did make an effort to have some that were masculine because I realized that many of what I made were more feminine.

Here are the stamp sets I used:

Technique Tuesdays Swanky Sentiments

Gina K Birthday Blessings

Gina K Whimsical Spring

Thanks so much for coming along with me to use up my patterned paper.  I ended up making 25 cards in total!  I think that wasn’t bad.  I already donated lots of them, but I also kept some for my stash and there are a lot of birthdays in my family in the next couple months!

I have some more of my stash I am going to bust next! And some new purchases to use!  Have a good day!

Patterned Paper Stashbuster Challenge - Part 3 - More Birthday Cards

Hello!  I am back with more cards I made using up my pack of OLD patterned paper.  I have three more cards to share.

I did a little coloring, a little paper piecing (which is a great way to use up scraps and I think I may do a lot of it for this challenge!) and some simple stamping too.  All these are simple layouts but I like how they turned out.

Here is a list of the stamps I used:

Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Birthday (THMB012)

Unity Stamps Life’s Short…Eat cake! Stamp set

Close to My Heart It’s Your Day to Sparkle Stamp set

I would like to link these to Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge.

New Home Card with Peg Stamps and Alcohol Inks

Hello everyone!  This will be my first post for a blog challenge in AGES!  I mentally haven’t been able to keep up with all the challenges, but I am feeling a lot more organized in the past couple weeks and am ready to start creating for challenges again.

I also needed to make a new home card for a stamping friend!  It was important to me that I use alcohol inks on this card, as she is a big fan of them and I know she will enjoy them.

I used NBUS items on this card.  The alcohol ink cardstock for the background is the brushed silver variety, and I had not tried that before.  That did give a fun look and it is kindof a matte finish, which is neat!

I also used some old and some NBUS peg stamps.

Patterned Paper Stashbuster Challenge - Post Two - Birthday cards

Hello everyone. I am continuing to make good headway using up a pack of patterned paper.

Let me back up a second.  I have a lot of 6x6 paper pads.  I had three that were similar colors, but all nearly used up so I had been keeping them together in one quart size ziplock bag.  So I basically took all of these and cut A2 cardfronts from any full pieces, and kept all the scraps, as well.  I am working on using up the entire thing as quickly as I can.  (If I ever figure out what the names of these pads are, I will add the info.  Two were from My Mind’s eye and one was Crate Paper??)

Why?  Just as a motivator as I love buying new paper, so it is good to clear some out.  The other thing I noticed is that I often keep the pieces I like best (because they are too pretty to cut up) and that is just silly!

I am especially trying to rebuilt my birthday card stash!  When I have enough, I will be donating many to a local nursing home.

This first card is pure silliness on my end. I had the images totally stamped and colored, even that strip of patterned paper was already attached. I just needed to add the sentiment and finish up the card.

The second and third cards are fairly simple.  I went through my stamps and pulled out ones that I thought might possibly look nice with the paper.  It was a fun way to give new life to stamps I might not have used yet or hadn’t seen love in a long time!

I have more cards coming!  I bet I can make at least 15 cards from this paper.  With the two Mother’s Day cards I recently posted, and these, that makes 5 so far!  What are you working on lately?

Here is a list of stamps I used:

Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Birthday set (THMB012)

Musical Penguin Quick Share!

Hello everyone! I’d like to do a quick share of this card I made for the Split Coast Stampers Free for All Challenge this week, which is a music theme.  I used this super cute penguin from Pink and Main Freezin Season, and paired that with a music background from Blank Page Muse.  I think it turned out cute!

The backgrounds are a gelli print and then one made with an embossing folder (stamping on an inked background with water). Basically all this stuff was out on my desk still so I threw it together.

Hope you are having a nice weekend!

Cheaper than Therapy?

Hello!  I am playing around with more new supplies!  And this one has a super funny sentiment, I think you will agree!

The background is glossy cardstock that I brayered over with a new Kaleidacolor inkpad. I heard that these are not being made anymore, so I bought 3 more!  They are so fun.  I then stamped over top of it with the chevron stamp (this stamp is very old, I think it was from A.C. Moore).

I then stamped, die cut and colored all these little crafty supplies.  These were also new.  I think this illustration style is so cute.

I couldn’t resist photographing the card over all the supplies I used on the project, listed below:

Pink and Main Crafty Stamp set and dies

Kaleidacolor Spectrum Inkpad

Hot Fudge Studio (Cam and Chloe) Stamp PS0888 Chevron

Happy Valentine’s Day!

 Happy Valentine’s Day!

I have a quick and easy card I created using a background I made previously.  I did the shaving cream technique but over a stencil.  I cut that out with a tag die and then stamped over top with my letter stamp.  I added just a little glitter glue to emphasize the heart.

Supplies:

Close to My Heart Scandinavian Folk Art Greetings

Honey Bee Stamps Quilted A2 Cover Plate

Gina Marie Designs tag die

Thank you for visiting! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Thankful Spring

Hello everyone.  I am sharing another card style I created with the same Close To My Heart Daisy Meadow kit that I used for my recent Easter card.  This was one of the card ideas in the kit and I made four cards.  Which is good because I tend to run out of Thank you cards.

This is a a great card for someone who likes to stamp because there is a lot of stamping involved.  I also like that each of my little meadows is a little different.  As I am getting back into stamping after several months of barely doing any, I just love the idea of using a kit like this.  I am not yet back into taking careful photos, but I know all of you bloggers understand.

Thank you for visiting and for all the kind comments.

After a Long Winters Nap....

Hello everyone.  I took a longer break than expected.  I originally was just going to take time off blogging for the holidays, but my father died just before Christmas.  We did travel to attend the burial, which was very small and not a normal funeral at all, due to covid restrictions.  We, of course, also quarantined after travel.

Between the work for those arrangements, and then virtual school mandates after the holidays, troubles with house repairs, it was just too much to also do blogging. I was able to do some scrapbooking, but I have much more to do.

My online cardmaking group does monthly zoom meetings, and this card is one that we did together.

The card panel was alcohol inks, using some hand sanitizer to blend, then after it dries, I embossed it.  I do not know the name of the card fold, but it was pretty easy and I really enjoyed making this card and the result.  The fern stamp is one of my oldest wood block stamps.

I do look forward to checking everyone’s blogs.  I hope everyone didn’t forget about me.  I hope to have a better crafting routing going forward.

Hope you are very well.

Polar Pals Christmas Cards

I am really far behind in Christmas card goals this year.  Now that it is summer, I think I will have more time to catch up.  I will start catching up with these two cards.

The first background was made with heat embossing on watercolor paper. I then used a square acrylic block to apply distress inks (spritzed with water) to specific areas.  I ended up liking the controlled, but not totally controlled look of this!

The second background was a technique I tried with stencil resist.  It didn’t work, but I liked the background anyhow.

Thanks for visiting!

Double Background Stamp Background

Hello!  In my stamping group, we were challenged to use the following technique to create a background with two background stamps.  I dug deep into my older stamps to find these two - they have to be at least 5 years old, if not 10.

I first stamped my Hero Arts tweed stamp with Versamark ink.  I then applied chalks all over this. Then, I inked up my Hero Arts Stitched Floral stamp with navy ink and stamped over top.  I thought this looked summery and girly.

So I decided to simply finish it with a fun brushstroke sentiment from Power Poppy.

I would love to enter WordArtWednesday - Anything Goes, Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes, SimonSaysStamp’s Monday Challenge - Create Your Own Background and RetroRubber Challenge - Summer.

I hope you are having a nice weekend. It is pretty hot and humid here.

Take care!

Heidi

Funny Giraffe Kid Birthday Card

I need a few kids cards soon, so I thought I would give this funny giraffe image from Mostly Mice Sheet a try!

I colored the image with markers and cut it out.  I then popped it up over a background I did with a stencil. Then, I used a fun stamp for the birthday sentiment from this set.  I had some enamel embellishments in the shapes of arrows and I thought that would be a fun addition for a tween card.  I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.
