W Card Fold Tutorial - Get Well Soon Scandanavian Folk Art Card

Hello everyone! I have a card to share with a fancy fold called the W-Fold.  I saw this card fold, in landscape format, here.  I preferred to make it as a standard upright card, so I will share those measurements below.  The card front is kept super simple, as the fun is all in the fold.

I used some cute Scandanavian stamps and simple stamping, but in a favorite color combo!  I feel this is bright and cheery, and good for a Get Well card.

Tutorial:

1) Decorate the card front of a standard A2 card, cut from colored cardstock (4.25 inches by 5.5 inches)

2) Line the inside of your card with white cardstock (4 inches by 5.25 inches)

3) Cut a strip of coordinating colored cardstock.  (8.5 inches by 1.5 inches) This can be a little thinner if you prefer, and are using a good, sturdy cardstock.

4) Score the strip at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 6 3/8 inches.  Fold into a W shape.

5) Cut 4 squares of white cardstock with either a die or paper cutter.  My squares are 1 7/8 inches.
(The absolute maximum would be 2 inches square, but you could go smaller).

6) Apply your strip to the inside of card as pictured.  Apply glue, or heavy duty double-sided adhesive, only to the outer part of the fold.
You may notice that I prefer not to place the strip all the edge of the card base, instead leaving a little gap.  I find this allows the card to stay folded more neatly.

7) Add your decorated squares to the strip.

Supplies: Club Scrap Scandinavia Jumbo Unmounted Stamp set, Scandinavia Greetings stamp set, Gina K Assorted Greetings Stamp set, Versafine Satin Red and Onyx Black inks, MFT Die Namics Pierced Squares dies.

I’d like to enter this card in SimonSaysStamp’s Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes, and Word Art Wednesday - Anything Goes!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you might try this card fold sometime!  Let me know if you have any questions!

Pride of Africa card, and a bonus card!

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well today. Didn’t the month of May just fly by!  I am back from my trip and am going to need the whole day to get myself together!

I have a two cards that are a bit outside my typical style, but I really ended up liking them!  I usually choose stamps that I just like (which is a lot of flowers and birds!) but sometimes I like to send cards that are different, and these projects fit the bill.

I created my background by swiping Distress Oxide inks onto watercolor paper, and then giving a light spray of water.  When dry, I stamped the Pride of Africa stamp right over top.

I also stamped a background stamp called Tribal Blanket, using tan ink, onto kraft cardstock, to create a subtle tone on tone look.  I really love that it is patterned, but doesn’t compete with the main image.  It was no problem to stamp my greeting, Thank You, on this panel.

Now, onto a “bonus” card!

So, I just loved that background stamp, and wanted to use it a little more. I had a plain white Hello die cut sitting on my desk, so I decided to dress it up by stamping on it with both green and orange inks (also still on my desk from the other project.). I then colored over the rest of the white by pressing it directly to my yellow inkpad.

I then stamped my Large Oak Tree with brown ink onto some white kraft cardstock and put the die cut directly over.  This turned out to be a great, everyday masculine card.

(Don’t forget you can always save 10% off your entire order at the I Brake for Stamps store, using my coupon code, SAVE10HEIDI)

I hope you will be inspired to choose some stamps outside of your ordinary with your next purchase! Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!

Swan Thank You Card

Hello cardmakers!  I hope you are having a nice weekend.  For those of you in the USA, I hope you are able to visit family and friends during this holiday weekend.  We are going to be busy with family obligations all weekend, so this post is actually pre-scheduled.  (Right now, I am probably making a pasta salad for a family cook-out.)

I made this card a couple weeks ago, and haven’t had a chance to share it yet.  I used a sketch and this very pretty stamp set from Hero Arts.  I think they have a stamp artist who does lovely storybook style  drawings, and I would like to own many more of these! I actually wish they would tell us who the stamp artist was for all the stamps. I know some companies do and some don’t, and I’m not sure why and why not.

I stamped, colored and die cut out a bunch of these images.  I then created the main sketch using embossed cardstock and patterned paper.  Over top of the elements, I created my scene.  I am hoping to make a bunch more cards with this set!

Supplies: Hero Arts Swans and Cattails stamps and dies, Memento Black ink, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Bo Bunny Early Bird 6x6 patterned paper, EK Success square punch, Elizabeth Crafts Embossing folder.

Thanks for your visit today!  I will be so happy to read each and every comment, and visit all your blogs when I am finished with the family obligations!  Have a great day!

Hummingbird Sympathy Card

Hello stamping friends! I hope you are doing well today.  I am sharing a sympathy card.  I do try to refill my sympathy card stash whenever a stamp is pulling me in that direction.

I started by coloring the Hummingbird with Flower stamp and I completely fussy cut it out.  I die cut a window in my card front.  Behind the panel, I put a piece of a background I made using the Cuttlebug Embossed Waxed Paper technique (tutorial is here).

Then I simply stamped the Memories Comfort You sentiment and framed out the entire card with green and yellow card stocks.

Don’t forget that you can save 10% on these stamps, and your entire order at I Brake for Stamps, with my coupon code, SAVE10HEIDI.

I’d love to enter this card into CASology’s Summer challenge and WordArtWednesday’s Anything Goes challenge.

Have a wonderful day!

Lighthouse Card

Hello!  Hope you are having a good weekend. It has gotten on the slightly hot side for us, hard to get used to after all the Spring Sweater-Weather we had previously. For the card I am sharing today, I was thinking slightly ahead to Father’s Day, although lighthouses are well loved by all people, I think.

I colored this stamp with alcohol markers.  For the sky, I used pointillism to add interest.  I die cut out the panel and arranged it over some nautical patterned papers.  I thought the sentiment panel would stand out nicely if I put it at the top on an angle.

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubber Stamps  Striped Lighthouse ,  Calm Seas sentiment, Memento black ink, Hero Arts Navy ink, Carta Bella Ahoy There 6x6 Paper pad, Gina Marie X Stitched rectangle dies.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Hope to see you again soon. In the meanwhile, hope you have time for stamping!

Peg Stamp Card - Hummingbird Anniversary Card

ETA 6/2/19: I’d like to thank Cupcake Inspirations for choosing my card as one of the Sweet Selects for their challenge!

Hello!  Many of you have been so busy lately with your cardmaking!  I sat down to go through my blog list last evening, and thought it wouldn’t be long as I only missed a day or two.  Well, wasn’t I wrong!  Everyone is being so creative!

Well, we finally have the sun again around here, so I was able to finish and photograph a card.  I had this anniversary stamp set out on my desk still from making this card last week.  Looking at the little hummingbirds on it, and knowing I will soon need a card for my parents, I came up with this idea, adding peg stamps!

I used the peg stamps to create the border along the top.  After that was finished, I added some Nuvo glitter drops here and there. I think you can see them in the photo. I thought they added some festivity to this card, as they really sparkle in the light.

The bird and sentiment were simply stamped with black ink.  I think it turned out cute!

Supplies: Rubber Stamp Tapestry Cherry Blossom stamp set, Penny Black You and Me Stamp set, Avery Elle inks in Kraft, Celery, Raspberry and Pixie, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus cardstock.

I would love to play along with these challenges!

Birdhouse Mother’s Day Cards

Hello stamping friends!  I would like to share these cards which I recently made for Mother’s Day.  This stamp is large, measuring almost 6 inches by 3.5 inches.  It would be great for 5x7 cards, but today I cropped it to fit a standard A2 card.

I colored the image with alcohol markers, adding some detail with a white gel pen. I decided to color the birds as a family of Eastern Bluebirds, as these are my Grandma’s favorite.  I colored a second image and framed it out slightly differently to suit my mom’s tastes.

Supplies:  I Brake for Stamps Large Summer Time BirdhouseDahlia Quarter Sheet and Bird Sheet 141A, Memento and Versafine Black inks, Gina Marie x stitched rectangle dies, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Pineapple Themed Cards

ETA 6/2/19:  I wanted to thank Tuesday Morning Sketches for choosing my card as a Top Pick for their challenge!

Hello!  I just want to give you all a big thanks for all the lovely comments you have left lately. They really do lift the spirits!  Today I have a couple cards to share.  I saw a pineapple themed card kit in a Close to My Heart catalog that I really liked, but I knew I didn’t need the stamp set, as I already have a pineapple stamp.  (I think this kit sold out, but you could contact a CTMH consultant if you were interested.)

So, I did use that layout for inspiration.  For the top of the pineapple I used rock n roll stamping technique.  The inside of the card I used the second generation stamping, and stamped a verse over top.

I decided to make a second, more clean and simple card.  I always think of pineapples as a traditional sign of hospitality, so I used that type of sentiment on this card.

Supplies: Reverse Confetti Pineapples A Plenty stamp set, Frame is from Close To My Heart ‘Tis the Season Cardmaking set, Sentiments from Our Daily Bread Designs Home Sweet Home, Peaches and Power Poppy Natural Beauties, Hero Arts Butter Bar, Green Hills and Field Greens ink pads, Versafine Onyx Black ink pad, Echo Park A Perfect Summer 6x6 paper pad, Gina K Designs cardstock in Wild Dandelion, Jelly Bean Green and Grass Green, Avery Elle Wonky Stitched rectangle die set, Spellbinders Fancy Edge rectangle dies, Tim Holtz/Sizzix tag die set, American Crafts Twine.

I’d love to enter in Cute Card Thursday’s Tie a Bow Challenge, and in Tuesday Throwndown’s Frame It challenge.

Tea Themed Friendship Card

Hello everyone!  Today is the last day of the Coffee Lover’s Blog hop.  I have made 6 projects for the hop; a really nice addition to my stash, which was a little depleted recently.

This last card was quick and simple, but fun to make. I used a sketch and some very sweet paper from my most recent patterned paper pack.  I have found Tuesday Morning is a great place to find varieties of patterned paper.

Supplies:  Close to My Heart Just Treats stamp set, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Avery Elle Kraft Pigment ink, Hero Arts Butter Bar and Soft Pool ink, Gina K Innocent Pink ink, Gina Marie X Stitched Rectangle die, Bo Bunny Early Bird 6x6 paper pad, Enamel heart is Heidi Swapp, Twine is American Crafts, Tombow Markers to color in the letters.

I would love to enter Tuesday Morning Sketches this week!

Thank you for visiting!  I appreciate all the comments and especially subscribers, old and new!  I look forward to visiting your blogs, too!

Retro Coffee Lady

Hello everyone!  It is not that cold today, but I am freezing!  Just can’t warm up.  So as I was going through my blog feed, I got a third cup of coffee warmed up. I almost NEVER drink 3 cups. It is usually 2 cups, with the second one unfinished.

I am having fun with the Coffee Lover’s Blog hop.  I do want to thank everyone for their kind comments and encouragements.  There are a few of you on platforms I do not have a login, so although I have been viewing your lovely cards, I haven’t been able to comment.

I am back with a second card from this same set from Monday’s card. I do love the retro feel of it.

Don’t forget I have a coupon code for I Brake for Stamps.  SAVE10HEIDI gets you 10% off your entire order.  Not just this stamp set.

 Coffee Rubber sheet

I paired the images with primary colors, kraft paper, and polka dots.  (The papers are all scraps from packs I am nearly finished with).  I did add a touch of red glitter glue to the heart on the sentiment, just to jazz it up. I plan to send a little Starbucks gift certificate to a teacher inside this card.  It is Teacher Appreciation Week!

I would also like to join in the Kat’s Scrappiness Coffee with Mom challenge.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Just for Fun May Challenge - Celebrating the Women in our Lives

I am happy to announce Just for Fun’s May Challenge!  It is Celebrating the Women in Our Lives, with the twist of having 3 or more layers.  Here is my card.

I colored the Peony with alcohol markers.  For my layers, I have my card base, the embossed blue cardstock, my peony and then the sentiment strip.  I did not use any foam tape, so this card is still flat for mailing.

While I was at it, I also colored another peony.  This card is more clean and simple, and I paired it with a quote I like.

Supplies: Just for Fun Rubber Stamps Peony, Happy Mother’s Day, and Emerson quote, Versafine and Memento Black inks, Cuttlebug and Darice embossing folders, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

I would also like to enter the Mod Squad Challenge - Mother’s Day and WordArtWednesday Anything Goes.

Thank you for visiting today!  Wishing you many crafty moments!

ETA 5/9/19:  Thanks to the Mod Squad Challenge for choosing my card as one of their Top 3, based on merit!  Thank you!

Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop - Coffee Is My Blood Type

Hello!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  Mine was VERY busy.  We had a dinner party, painted our downstairs hallway, then had church, meetings and activities on Sunday.  So I am kind of glad it is Monday!

Back again with another coffee card for the blog hop.  My card today focuses on this cool sentiment from I Brake for Stamps.  I am on the design team for this company and I think this set is VERY original! I do have a coupon code for you also.

(If you like this stamp set, please use the code SAVE10HEIDI to save 10% on your entire order at the I Brake for Stamps store.)

I stamped with green Versafine ink on kraft paper.  I colored the cup with alcohol markers and die cut out the panel.  After choosing this fun, slightly retro, floral printed paper, I went back to the stamp set for an accent. I thought that the coffee tree looked kind of the shape of a bouquet.

I colored on the stamp with different markers, to represent both ripe and unripe coffee beans, spritzed with water and stamped.

Supplies: I Brake for Stamps Coffee Rubber Sheet, Versafine Olympia Green ink, Tombow water-based markers, Gina K/ThermoWeb double stitched rectangle dies, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Echo Park HomeGrown 6x6 paper pad.

Thank you for visiting!  If you are new to my blog, I hope you will consider subscribing!  And please leave a comment to let me know you were here!  I always try to visit back!

Have a great day!

Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop - What’s Brewing?

Hello again!  I am still having fun making coffee themed cards for the Blog Hop.  Today, I have one with a couple nice stamps from Just for Fun Rubber Stamps.  For those of you who are new, this is one of the design teams I am on.

This stamp is called Latte Love and it is one of my favorites.  The sentiment is What’s Brewing.  They also have a whole section of coffee, tea and wine stamps that are a bit different than you see elsewhere.

I colored my stamp with alcohol markers, using colors from this patterned paper I wanted to use.  I then added Wink of Stella to the coffee, and Nuvo Drops glitter glue to the heart.

The background is Distress Oxides.  I nearly always coat my cardstock first with a light layer of gesso before I make this type of Distress Oxide smooshed background. I feel like I get better layers when I do this.

Then I just finished the card with the sentiment heat embossed on vellum.

Thank you so much for visiting today!  For new visitors, I hope you will consider following my blog and leaving a comment.

Have a great day!  Stay caffeinated and crafty!

Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop - Spring Anniversary Card

Hello!  Today, I am again playing in the Coffee Lover’s Blog hop for Spring and Summer!

I have been sitting here this morning, drinking my coffee, while 1st, going through my blog reader list.  A lot of you are also playing in the hop, but plenty posting other projects (which is great too!)  Second, visiting back to everyone who commented on my blog in the last 24 hour, thank you!  And 3rd, trying to visit a bunch of projects at the link up.  And there are a lot!

As a funny observation of a blog hop, when you go through hop posts, and you notice the couple people who copy and paste the same, exact comment onto every post.  Lol.

For todays card, I decided to use this “new to me” set.  I was going to make a wedding card to have on hand, but then realized that MY wedding anniversary is coming up and I hadn’t yet made a card.  DH and I both love coffee, so I thought this would be fun.

I used this sketch for the card, then used a scrap of patterned paper to decorate the inside, along with some other stamps from the set.

Supplies: Penny Black You and Me stamp set, Avery Elle Kraft and Truffle Pigment inks, Versafine black pigment ink, Bo Bunny Early Bird 6x6 Paper pad, Corner chomper, gems from my stash.

Thanks for visiting!  If you are new, I hope you will consider leaving a comment, or even subscribing to my blog.  I appreciate the gestures, and always try to visit your blogs as well.

Have a wonderful day!

Tea Time Thank You card - Using Peg stamps!

Hello!  Today, I am playing in the Coffee Lover’s Blog hop for Spring and Summer! This is always such a fun blogging event and I have been looking forward to it.  In fact, ALL my coffee and tea related stamp sets are sitting out on my desk as I write this. 😁

My first card is actually a tea card.  You can participate if you make a coffee, tea (or, I think, even hot chocolate) themed project.  I got out my peg stamps for this, and had so much fun stamping the background.

I then just used a pretty ‘Thank You’ sentiment and die cut that as a layer.  I dug through my embellishments and found this fun butterfly sent by a stamping friend, and thought it finished the card perfectly. I kept this card flat for easy mailing.

Supplies: Rubber Stamp Tapestry A Spot of Tea stamp set, Anita’s Stamps Thank You, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Avery Elle Pigment inks in Sugar Plum, Raspberry, Sapphire, Lemon Grass, Jungle and Mermaid, Gina K/Thermoweb Double Stitched Rectangle dies, other items from my stash.

I would also like to enter the Inkpirational Challenge Tea Photo.  This is why I did a tea card today!

Thanks for visiting!  If you are new to my blog, I hope you will consider leaving a comment, or even subscribing to my blog.  I appreciate this so much, and always try to visit your blogs as well.

Have a wonderful day!
