Fall Flowers Card

Hello and I hope you are doing well today!  I realize I am late to the party, but I am having fun with my very first color layering stamp set!  It has been so much fun to try out different color combinations with these flowers and leaves.  I ended up using yellow, pink and red for the flower and three tones of green for the leaves.

I used a sketch for this card and some pretty fall papers.  The frame in the background is an embossing folder and I also got to use up the rest of these peach pearls.

Rudolph Days - Sleigh Card

Hello, I always like to participate in the Rudolph Days challenge.  It is a short challenge each month starting on the 25th and going till the end of the month.  It is designed to help you make some Christmas cards each month so you aren't swamped at the end of the year.  Here is the card I made for this month's challenge.

I used Versafine ink to stamp the sleigh (I LOVE this stamp!) on ivory paper and then used sparkle embossing powder (oh, yes, I LOVE sparkle embossing powder too!) over top of the blue ink.  It looks so pretty because it looks matte in some lights and sparkly in others.

I used an older sketch and some patterned papers to help make this card really festive.  All Christmas cards are festive, but I think they especially are a great place to use up patterned papers.  I added a brad and punched snowflake which doubles as my sentiment.

Turtle Birthday Card

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your day.  I have a fun birthday card to share today.

I stamped the turtles and then colored them with alcohol markers.  I found them really easy to color.  Then I just matched it up with some of my favorite birthday papers and a sketch, and it was all finished!  I thought the brown glitter ribbon added a festive look, but still looked good for a boy.

Sweet Pumpkin Patch

Hello and thanks for stopping by!  Today I am blogging for Just For Fun Rubber Stamps again, and I have a fun stamp and card to share with you.  

When I was making this card, I wasn't sure if I wanted to use it for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or just general autumn greetings.  I love that I can use it for any of those that I choose.  

I simply stamped this sweet pumpkin patch image and colored with alcohol markers.  I layered it over some die cuts, using pretty fall patterned paper to enhance my stamp.  I really like how it turned out!  (You might have seen that I used this same stamp in a different way on the owl Halloween card posted here.)

An Irish Blessing Card

I hope your week is starting off on a good note.  We are having such beautiful weather today! 

I needed to make a card for a little girl's dedication, and I knew just what sentiment I wanted to use!

I first stamped the sentiment and then the angel wings over top in light pink.  The floral paper was embossed and then I ran the light pink ink directly over the embossing just to bring it out a little, so it didn't get totally lost.  You can see the embossing better at an angle, below.

Cute or Creepy - Halloween cards

I tend to like the cuter side of Halloween. It is no secret that my favorite trick or treaters are the little tiny ones who come about 5:30 pm, before it even gets dark.  However, some people really like the creepy side.  So today, I made a cute Halloween card and a creepy one - with many of the same stamps and supplies.

This first card is the creepy one.  I created the sky by blending just two Distress inks.  I then colored the scary scarecrow with alcohol markers and trimmed him out.  I added sakura glitter pen to his eyes and mouth.

The second card, I created the same type of Distress ink background on top of a die cut.  The pumpkin and owl were colored with alcohol markers.  I used stippling on the owl to create a more interesting look and put glossy accents on his eyes.

Cute Bunny Birthday Card

Today I have a card that is pretty simple, but it was fun to make and the products I used to make it really seem to wow people in real life.

The image was simply colored with alcohol markers.  This stamp set is fun because you can mix and match the animals with different clothing.  I love when stamping allows you to be a kid again!  I then just cut it out using the wonky stitched rectangle die.  Those are so popular right now and they really seem to catch the eye!

The background is purple paper underneath a printed pink and clear acetate sheet.  This is what really makes a card look special. I took a couple extra photos so you can see the great shine on this product! (You can see where I used this before here and here.)

Easy Halloween Kitty Card

Hello and thanks for coming by today to check out my card.  I have been inspired to get some Halloween cards ready to send out to the kids in my family.  I think most of them will like cute ones best.

I just stamped this kitty and then did some loose watercoloring with Tombow markers and a waterbrush.  Super easy to do! I have been working on using up more patterned paper, so I picked out some papers that I could make a simple scene with.

Easy Halloween Frankenstein Card

Update (10/13/16) I was really excited this morning to see that this card and my other Kitty Halloween card were chosen as the TOP SPOT over at the Art Impressions blog for the Perfect Pair Challenge.  Thank you so much!

I do not make a lot of Halloween cards, but when I do, I tend toward the cuter side.  This little stamp set I just picked up is really fun.

I had a scrap of cardstock that I had sprayed with Heidi Swapp sprays in gold, green and blue.  I thought that would make a good skin tone for Frankenstein.  Then I just used a sketch to make a quick card.  I think it looks simple, but effective. The green panel was mint green and I sponged lime green around the edges.

I made this card by first die cutting the label shape, then stamping around with my leaf peg stamps.  I used a variety of colors and the rock n roll technique for these tiny stamps.  

Then I stamped the birds.  These birds are one of my first stamp purchases way back when I got obsessed with stamping.  I love the size of them and that I can still use them today.  I just fussy cut them and sponged on distress inks.  I used a sketch from SCS to pull it all together.

Fall Birthday Bouquet Card

Hello everyone. I am happy you stopped by.  We are having gorgeous fall weather today.  It is bright and sunny, like the card I am sharing today.  I know that some of you are under the threat of the hurricane, so I am thinking of you and hope you stay safe and dry.

I need to replenish my birthday card supply because I need to send a bunch soon!  I colored this image with alcohol markers and that was fun. I came up with this easy CAS layout by just picking out scraps of patterned paper that were pretty much already cut like this.  I did add the little corner punching on the rectangle. I love those little punches, they make cards cute.

Teal Pumpkin Card Project

I am so pleased to be posting today for the first time as part of the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Design Team! I certainly have been having fun stamping and coloring and working on cards with these stamps!

You may have heard of the Teal Pumpkin project, in which people set their teal pumpkin on the front step to show trick or treaters they have some non-food items for kids with severe allergies.  I think they are just gorgeous to look at, as well as nice for the kids, so I made it into a card.

I found the easiest way to get that lovely teal color I was looking for was to stamp and emboss the Tall Stamptangle pumpkin with gold onto light blue cardstock, fussy cut, and then sponge on Peacock Feathers Distress ink.  It was so simple to do but such a lovely result!  The smaller Stamptangle pumpkin was stamped on ivory card and sponged with Tea Dye distress ink.

I also used the same colors of ink to sponge on my patterned papers and sentiment pieces to pull everything together.  I decided to cut my sentiment out to better fit my card.

Purple Christmas Trees

I have a pretty purple Christmas card to share today for a challenge to use non-traditional colors for a card.  I think that purple was about the MOST challenging color for me.  I used both dark and light purple, but I think the lavendar lumiere cardstock give the bit of sparkle that helps this card to FEEL like a holiday card.

A fun announcement & Halloween Challenge

Hello everyone! I have an exciting announcement today! I was so thrilled to be asked to join the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Design Team! I will be posting over at their blog the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

In addition, today I have a project I made for Just For Fun's October Challenge - Halloween using at least 2 stamps.

First, I stamped my images with Archival ink onto plain cardstock.  I sponged Worn Lipstick, Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves and finally Black Soot Distress inks to create the spooky sky for the little kitty to look out upon.  I bet you recognize that I splashed a little water over top to create a starry look.
