Superstitious Handmade Card - And a trimmer question

I hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day this weekend!  And stay safe!  Our local police has sent out safety warnings similar to New Year’s Eve, hoping that everyone will celebrate responsibly.

Supplies: Deep Red Stamps Superstitious, Versafine Onyx Black ink, Prismacolor colored pencils, Crate Paper Party Day 6x6 paper pad, Gina K Designs In the Navy cardstock.

I would love to enter the Cards in Envy Green Things challenge!

If you love your paper trimmer, I would love to know which one you have and why you picked it! I have been having a lot of frayed edges with mine, even when I change the blade.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

You can find me on facebook or pinterest, too.

Such a pretty green card Heidi, love it..so vibrant too!....my trimmer is the large Xcut one and I love it. I had a similar one and used it for years and cut loads of stuff for our daughter and son's weddings too.I only really changed it to look better in my craft room when I re-did it all as the handle was more compact in this one.HTH ;) Viv xx

This card really made me giggle! It would be so apt for my mum, I'm sure she even makes up her own superstitions! She comes out with ones I've never heard of (or anyone else has ever heard of!). A great card my friend! Have a great upcoming weekend! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx

Fabulous card Heidi, love that sentiment. I have 6 trimmers. One fiskars with the fixed bar and replaceable sliding blade I only use it for scrapbooking so the blades are not an issue. For my cards, I have an old paper trimmer my hubby used in college. Big 12x12 platform with a swing arm. I use that on my heavy 120Lb card bases. I have the tim holtz tonic and I use that a lot. It cuts nicely and seems to be hold up to my heavy use - I've had it a little over a year now. I also have two tonic guillotine one 5 inches wide...it cuts wonderfully but is limited in size. I also about 6 months ago got the tonic 6x12 trimmer. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Very clean cuts. Also a guillotine trimmer--they seem to stay the sharpest. One bit of advice always cut by keeping the guillotine trimmer arm as close as possible to the trimmer base. When the blade is not close to the edge of the cutting platform you'll get ragged edges.

I wouldn't say I love it, but I have two of the kind that have a sliding razor blade, two different manufacturers and they both perform about the same. I don't really have an issue with the edges, I press hard and slide quickly.

What a fantastic St Patty's day card! Love those cool green papers! I use a Tonic 12" guillotine cutter. I bought it about 6 years ago and I have used it heavily over the years and NEVER sharpened it or replaced the blade. It still cuts as sharp as the day I bought it! It was over $40 but worth every cent I paid for it as it's just indestructible and completely reliable! I also have an 8" Tonic cutter I keep on the craft table for small trimming jobs which I'd be lost without. I gave up on all the trimmers with replacement blades and never looked back.

Such a cute card. Love all that green.

I have a Fiskars trimmer that has a wire where the cutting blade goes for exact cutting placement. I buy the titanium blades and they last longer on my SU paper. Not so much with cheaper papers.

A gorgeous card and I love that sentiment. I use an old guillotine type I got years ago when I first started making cards. I find if my cutter gets unbalanced for some reason it cuts jagged. Maybe a buildup of paper residue. So I try to clean that away often. But if that happens I take my sand eraser and file them off.

Thank you so much for your comments! I will be checking out all these trimmers.

I have the Fiskars trimmer with the wire. I just replaced the blade and it is cutting with frayed edges. I wonder if I accidentally got a not titanium one....

I used to have a small fiskars guillotine. It was super duper old and I finally got rid of it because the blade was kindof bent in one spot. So now I have no good trimmers!

Might try the titanium blade before replacing it....

Love your card and layout, My favourite part has to be that sentiment though :)
As for paper trimmers I use the tonic guillotine paper trimmer and love it. Thank you for joining us over at Cards In Envy

Neat St. Patty card, like your paper combo. I hope people will be responsible also today.

I have the old Fiskars 12 inch trimmer, it still works ok for me, I do probably need to change out my blade more often but when I do it seems to cut ok for me, good luck with whatever you go for next.

Gorgeous card, great use of the different patterns. I use the tonic guillotine for cutting...the one with an orange handle and the larger one. I absolutely would not be without it and it always cuts perfectly and is easy to clean too x
