Rudolph Days - Snowman

Thanks for stopping by! I got lots of Christmas cards done in July.  Since it is the very last day of August, I made a priority to get at least one done!

This was a super easy card, I lightly colored the snowman and sentiment with just 3 water-based markers.  I also stamped the snowflakes with one of those markers. A  couple sheets of patterned paper finished this card right off.

Thankful Fall Card

Daisy Sympathy Card

You can see that I used the same images and layout, but when it came to the patterned paper, I did change that up.  Also, I do not have brown alcohol markers yet, so I had to use a mixture of flesh tones and greens to get the brown I need.

Pretty Flip Flops

Hello!  Today I have a Clean and Simple summery card to share!

This was easy to put together. The ribbon is actually my Just for Fun ribbon stamp. I stamped it in purple dye ink, colored over with alcohol markers and then added little dots everywhere with my white gel pen.

An Irish Blessing card

Hello and I hope you are having a good weekend.  Our family just got back from hiking a trail.  It was a bit harder than expected, but we feel *mostly* invigorated.  And since it is International Geocaching day, we found a geocache while we were out.  

I have had a productive week making cards, so I already had one ready to share today.  I just LOVE this Irish Blessing!

This was super simple to make.  I used a couple dies and a sketch and some older patterned paper.  I have to say, I am getting so much satisfaction using up some of my patterned paper stash!

Bees with Shimmer

Hello and happy Friday!  I am looking forward to a weekend that is not quite as hot as it has been.  We hope to visit a park and do some easy hiking.  

I had so much fun making the card I am sharing today!  I used a little bit of shimmer.

I stamped the honeycomb with Versafine black pigment ink and then used Shimmer embossing powder.  You can see the shine in just the right light.  

I also colored the bees with water-based markers, and then added a touch of Sakura Stardust gel pen to the wings.  They look super sweet!

Reach for the Stars! - Encouragement Card

Thanks for coming by today! I have an encouragement card suitable for a young person today. I think it could be for back to school, or for a first game of the season, or anytime you wanted to help them feel confident.

Easy stamping on this card, I did need to use generation stamping for some of the colors, but I let the sentiment take center stage.  I found bits and pieces of papers in my scrap box.

Back to School Encouragement card

It is back to school time, or nearly, in most parts of the USA.   This brings up many happy memories of freshly sharpened pencils, but is also a time of great angst and worry for many kids. School is much more stressful for my kids than it was for me, so I thought this sentiment would work well to encourage kids going off to school.

Sunflower "Thankful for You" card

Thank you for stopping by!  I have this clean and simple cards to share today that uses one of my favorite sentiments.  I really like this pretty font.

I followed a sketch for this card, pretty much to the t.  I used alcohol markers to color my image, matted the image and then popped that up with foam adhesive.

Cheerful Flowers card

I had a lot of fun this morning putting together this card with a new to me stamp and an old patterned paper pack.  It is a little fussy, but sometimes fussy is fun!

I colored the image with alcohol markers. My first thought is that this is a cornflower, but I wanted it to be sunny and yellow.  This stamp is part of a RAK I received from Cheryl, who is so generous with her encouragement, too!

Crazy Cat Birthday Love

I have had this idea for a while about how to use my crazy cat stamp with a certain sentiment for a card that is a little wild, but funny if you have a certain sense of humor.  I plan to use this card as a birthday card for my brother. I think (I hope) he will think it is really funny.

I colored the cat with alcohol markers and then added some glossy accents to the eyes.  I really loved the idea of using a black background with the fishy stamp to create the scene for the funny sentiment.

As a last addition, this morning I thought to add a few heart gems.  I think they add the perfect touch of color to the card, and are funny with the overall scene and sentiment.

More Bordered Sentiments

Hi everyone! I have had a busy week with many doctor visits with my kids and little to no cardmaking.  Luckily, everyone is well again, and hopefully we will be all back to normal.

When I saw that the ModSquad challenge was going to be Bordered Sentiments, and since I just did some cards with this technique last week, I decided to change the technique up a little bit.

All I did was use my Tim Holtz ruler and paper piercer to add piercing lines inside the border. I think it is a fun addition to a CAS card!

Gold Leaf with metallic embossing powders

Last week, at SplitCoastStampers, there was a challenge to create a faux gold leaf with gold embossing powder on tin foil. I decided to try it using both gold and copper embossing powders.

This is how you do it.

1.  Crumple up some aluminum foil lightly to get some texture and then open it back up. 

2.  Die cut the foil.

3.  Apply Versamark ink to the foil pieces and the cover in metallic embossing powder.

4. Heat to melt the powder.  Repeat process if necessary to cover die cut.

I found that you could also get the job done by just using paper or cardstock.  Can you tell which one is paper in my finished card?

I found that the paper was much less fragile and a little easier to die cut.  With the foil, in the really recessed areas, you can see the foil peeking out, and that is a nice look.  But overall, I think you get a very similar result either way.
