The background is made with the Distress Stencil Technique that you can find at this link. I used Frayed Burlap Distress ink and a feather stencil. (Watch out for another post soon with some tips for this technique. Not all my backgrounds worked out until I tried a few things.)
I stamped this bird in brown and then colored it simply with alcohol markers. I decided this stamp looked most like an Ovenbird, which is a type of warbler. I die cut it, then with the die in place, sponged some light blue ink around it. I then stamped the sentiment and die cut it the same way.
The stamp sets I used are Sheet 141B Bird Nests stamp sheet and Inspirational Phrases stamp sheet. Please check these out in the I Brake for Stamp store and save 10% using my coupon code SAVE10HEIDI.
Thanks for visiting today! I hope you have a great day!

This is a beautiful masculine card. Great colors and a wonderful bird image.
A fabulous masculine card. I like how you sponged the leaf and sentiment. A great bird image. Your grandpa will love it.
Is that where you got your love for bird watching, from your Grandpa?
Your background turned out great and love the color with your bird, he is going to love this!
I think the feather background goes great with the image - lovely card for your bird-loving grandpa.
Well, the apple does not fall far, Miss Chickadee, look at you knowing all about the birds. I love it! Very cool in my book. My paternal grandmother instilled in me my love for family genealogy, personally grooming me to take over for her, and of course she was my fave and the one I was closest to. I'm also her namesake. This card was loved by your grandpa, I'm certain. Pinned for the technique and it's gorgeous. Enjoy your grandpa. I wish mine were still alive. XOX
