September Flower of the Month Card - Morning Glory

I’ve been excited about the September Flower of the Month for a while now.  It is Morning Glories! I love this flower and didn’t get my seeds planted in time this year so I don’t have any in my garden!  But I do have a card.

In case you are new, this is my self-imposed challenge to use my flower stamps.  Each month has one or two flowers that are traditionally birth flowers for that month.  And you might be surprised that you have many of them in your stash already! (You can see all my flower-of-the-month posts HERE.)

I colored my flowers with alcohol markers and added glitter Nuvo drops to the centers.  I think in this second photo, they may show up.  They are pretty!  I hand cut the panel out to create a bottom and a top, and then glued it down over my sentiment panel.  I really like this color of blue!  It was in a cardstock pack from Hobby Lobby.

Heron Silhouette Sunset Card

Hello!  I have a serene Thank You card to share with you today.  It still feels like summer, and even if it were not, I guess we could travel south with the birds to see this little scene!

 I made the background by doing a watercolor wash on watercolor paper.  When the paint is still quite wet, you throw grains of salt on it to get this pretty effect.  It is an old technique, but it never *feels* old to me!

I stamped right over the dried background with the Great Heron Silhouette stamp and framed it with black cardstock.  So pretty!  I added a scripty “thanks” to finish the card.

Christmas Snowmen and Using up Scraps

Hello everyone!  How have you been lately? I am hoping all of you that were in the path of the hurricane weathered the storm okay.  We just got a little rain from it, no big deal.

I have been busy making a lot of cards, and will be sharing them probably over the next two weeks.  Hopefully I can keep up on this pace of cardmaking - I am enjoying myself!

You might have seen the cute monster card I posted last week.  Well, when I was doing that background, I also started with this Christmas background in the same design.  I added a cute snowman to it, adding white flocking to parts of the image how I like to.

Well, then I happened to see Art Impressions new challenge which is circle elements.  Well, as my little snowman is from their company, I thought why not try a similar card with scraps, but punch circles.  (This is what I really love about card challenges!) This next card is what I came up with.

I was happy to use up so many paper scraps. I knew I was saving them for a reason! LOL!
I’d also like to add this to Pixie’s Crafty Workshop’s Snippets challenge #335.

A Funny Clueless Monster

Hello everyone!  I feel like I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and that I will have a more regular schedule now - with more time to stamp!  The card I am sharing today, I just love. I colored the image at my papercraft group two weeks ago, I missed last week because we were still painting, and then finished the card at the meeting last night.  So two weeks to finish a card! Lol.

The image was colored with alcohol markers.  I found a simple card layout on Pinterest that I knew would be fun for using up scraps.  I changed it up to work for my tastes and images.  I popped up the main image with foam tape.

Isn’t the saying funny?  Oh my goodness, I want to send this to all my friends.

Golden Roses

I have been hanging onto this card to share for a couple months. I LOVE this color combo of eggplant and golden yellow with gold heat embossing.  I feel like it is a great autumn color combo.  It is hard to photograph that eggplant purple though, I think it comes through... anyhow, it is a great alternative to navy or black.

I stamped the June Rose stamp four times onto yellow cardstock.  I heat embossed them with gold embossing powder.  I trimmed the panel down to size to fit over my die cut.  The sentiment and card base are actually a very lovely color of eggplant purple.

Golf Theme Card

Hello! Did you have a good holiday weekend?  We decided to start painting our bedroom this weekend, and it really took a lot of time and labor.  Actually, I still need to do the doors.  So not too much cardmaking for me, but I do have a nice, masculine card to share with you today.  

Just for Fun has an upcoming release that includes a bunch of neat golf theme stamps.  As someone who is always looking for good ideas for masculine cards, I really appreciate these!  For those of you who know women who play golf, there is a great female golf silhouette, too.  However, this card was made for my grandpa.

This couldn’t be an easier basic stamping card. I stamped the golf word image in black Versafine, then stamped the silhouette over top with a blue Versafine Clair ink.  I think it is an effective design, though, over the green cardstock.

Art Class

It’s Back to School Season and my card today goes along with Just for Fun’s August Challenge.  I decided to go with at Art Class theme and an encouraging sentiment.  I know that schools start so early a lot of places, but I think this would be a great time to send a card to a college student who might be missing home.

I used a watercolor wash for the background. I recall that when I made it a couple weeks ago, I thought the colors were deeper than I wanted, so I used a paper towel to mop up some of the excess.  This left a blotchy look that I kind of like!  I die cut the background.

I stamped my brushes and then paper pieced them with scraps of patterned papers.  I colored the brush tips with watercolor markers and put Wink of Stella over top.  I finished off the card by adding glitter Nuvo drops.
