Hello cardmaking friends! I have quick share this morning of a card I made with a sketch!

I had the bird already colored up from when I made this previous card.  I simply picked some pretty paper and textured cardstock to go with it.  I love the look of the neutral print!  I added a bit of shiny washi to the bottom to ground the image and some embellies up top to draw your eye up to the sentiment.

Camellias

I got the guts to try coloring up this stamp with alcohol markers yesterday after I perused images of Camellias on google.  They are just gorgeous flowers, in so many pretty colors!  I do not think they would grow outside in my area, but I wonder if you can grow them inside...

I decided pink would be the easiest color to try first.  This die was the only one in my collection that seemed to fit the flowers well.  

One item I had not used before was the small tag die with the little heart.  I wanted this to be a Valentine, so I thought this little tag would be perfect.

Thanks Sew Much "Quilt" Card

In my stamping group, there was a challenge to make a quilt square card, and this is what I came up with.

I used a 1.25 inch square punch on some scraps of paper and then arranged them how it looked like it should from other examples of this style.  It really was pretty easy to do.  Then I placed my square over a die cut square of ivory card and embossed the entire thing with a folder I thought might look a bit like a stitching pattern.  

I did rub a little distress ink over top of the embossing just to cover any areas that might have looked a bit white.  Boy, oh boy! I really enjoy fun ways to use up scraps!  The result definitely made me smile, too.

The sewing notions were stamped and fussy cut from more scraps.  Fun!

Pink and Grey Christmas card

Thank you for stopping by.  This is the first Christmas card I have made in 2017.  I took a month off of Christmas theme and now I am ready to try to make a few each month and be ready for the holiday  when it comes!

I colored my sweet penguin image with alcohol markers and framed him with a cute heart die using a dark grey cardstock.  I thought about punching a heart for the penguin to hold, and turning this into a Valentine, but I already felt committed to doing a Christmas theme.  

Textured paper was embossed with snowflakes and then I used a pale pink paper for the background. Nuvo Crystal Glitter drops were used as a subtle embellishment.

Shabby Chic Floral Card

This was a very fun card to make with a lot of stamps and products!  First, I worked on the background.  I sponged pink, green and brown distress inks over a stencil, then immediately I applied whipped spackle over top.  It looks white at first, but then the distress inks mix in and the spackle becomes more opaque and it is pretty when it dries.

The pink flower was kissed with a script stamp, then I masked that flower and stamped over top with the fern.  I thought that was such a pretty combo.  I did sponge ink on the oval die cut to make it look more shabby.

I finished off the card with some pretty lace and a vellum butterfly. This card is a bit unusual for me, but I really like it and had fun making it.

Fun Dragon Kid's Card

I recently was lucky enough to win some digi stamps from Bugaboo.  I haven't used a lot of digi stamps in the past, but I took the opportunity to get some that would be great for kids, since I really think they excel at those types of images.

I printed this guy out on some kraft paper and colored him with inktense pencils.  I recently got a few new colors of pencils so I have more to work with.  I did blend out with a tiny bit of water, but I am not sure how much that did on kraft paper.  I definitely could use more practice with my pencils, but I liked how it turned out.   I used a stamp from a clear set for the sentiment.

Birdie Love Valentine Card

Hello and thanks for stopping in!  Today, I used a sketch to make a Valentine from everyday stamps.

I colored my bird with alcohol markers and then covered him in a thick coat of glossy accents.  When it was dry, I trimmed him out.

I used a Valentine paper pad and some hot pink cardstock to make the card look the part!  The little hearts were confetti from a party that I saved.

Cute Turtle Card

I have used this sweet turtle stamp before, but today I just wanted to do something different and use just a portion of the stack of turtles.  So I inked it up with a marker and just stamped the one.

I then just colored him up, mixed in some patterned paper and called it a card.

Spring Florals card

Something fun occurred while I was making this card. I was finishing it up and started to put my supplies away.  That is when I happened to find a clear sentiment stamp that was missing since June!  Back when I noticed the stamp had vanished, I had to laugh, since the sentiment is, "I miss you."  

It was stuck to the back of a patterned paper pack and I realize now that it must have stuck there when I was making this card.  That is the same paper pack as I used today and I think I originally was going to make that a miss you card instead of hello friend.

Good times!

Watercolor markers two ways

Hello, I am glad you are here!  I have two cards to share today, both using watercolor markers to color the image, all the same color markers too.  The difference is that one I blended out with water and the other I did not.  It was fun to see what kind of difference that made.

I started by stamping on mixed media paper with archival ink.  Here is the version where I blended with water.

I fussy cut the image (not so easy with the thick paper) and applied it to some textured cardstock.  The background was some light blue textured cardstock that I embossed.

Here is the second card - you can see the deeper colors.  I colored the darker hue of marker to an area first and then blended it out with the lighter marker.  I really find that the mixed media paper works well for watercolor markers.  Some other cardstocks absorb the marker too quickly and you get more streaks and less blend.

I added white gel pen to the image to accent the details and to break up the colors a little. The same accent patterned paper was used on this card, but I used a smooth cardstock for the base with some tone on tone stamping.

(I thought I would like the lighter colors better, but I really found myself loving the chartreuse in the deeper colors!)

I always like making quick cards that are good for guys!  I enjoyed using a new stamp set and die.  I plan on making more projects in the future. We like playing card games in my family so I know my relatives will love the fun stamps and sentiments in this set!

All Occasion Cards Needed!

I send out a bunch of cards this week and realized that my card stash is just about lower than it has ever been before!  That is great that I am sending them out, but I felt I needed to get some made, and especially ones that can be used for all occasions.

The image is from Power Poppy, one I had stamped in my travel sketch pad to color on the go.  I did this because I had never used this image on a card, although I have used all the others in the set.  I colored this with pencils and added touches of glitter gel pen that you can sortof see in the close-up below.

I used a sketch for this card. It just happened that this piece of alcohol ink background I made previously looked nice with the colors.  This is current, slate, cranberry and bottle alcohol inks.

The butterfly might be from Maya Road, but I have long since lost the packaging.  I love the vellum!

Hot Tea Month - Get Well Card

Hello!  You might have seen a post I wrote planning for some of the obscure holidays this month.  It is Hot Tea Month, and since I needed a get well card for a family member, I decided to combine those.

I colored my teacups with alcohol markers and added accents with gold and glitter gel pens.  The embellishments are sticky gems over top of sequins.

When I was coloring, I had a patterned paper pad in mind and then I used a sketch to arrange the papers.

On the inside of my card, I stamped the image again with light blue ink and stamped my sentiment right on top.  I usually write my message over the image, but you can still see it.

Here is my inspiration project for this challenge.

I truly love this image. I have colored her up a bunch of times in my sketchbook and I think you will be seeing her in future projects too.  This time, I stamped the ballerina on watercolor cardstock and colored with watercolor pencils and blended.  I wanted more texture and more intense color, so I added regular colored pencil over top.

The background is two simple steps.  Just sponge color on, put a stencil over top and sponge a different color on. It always turns out pretty.
